Security system is Honeywell Vista20P with 7847i module and totalconnect2 service. Provides granular notification via email or sms of many types of vents by zone

Investigating using email alerts from totalconnect2, triggered by open sensor event, received by email client service running on my local lan PC to set off http commands that will trigger a camera

To stage this i created dedicated email address for each camera and configured notifications within the totalconnect2 to fire off to the appropriate email address each time a specific zone senor changes to open .. (regardless of whether system is armed or disarmed) .. looking for best client / software tool to watch the inbox and fire off the http command ... i do not have this working but i can tell the email alerts start out with 10 second latency so not great beginning.

Better approach would be to configure triggers directly on the honeywell devices / service that would send the http commands without any delay based on the same underlying event status that pushes out the email alert and do so within my LAN .. ie avoiding public IP.

Any ideas or pointers would be appreciated

Any luck? I also use totalconnect2 service. What I'm trying to do is to customize BI to only activate my indoor cameras when my system is armed to "away". Any input is greatly appreciated.

Perhaps another HA system? HomeSeer is kind of expensive, but it can include a Blue Iris plug-in for an additional cost, in case there's also a plugin for your alarm system.

I had created an event in HS3 which whenever the front gate is opened, a PTZ camera will zoom to the gate's preset. That camera has been cloned to email out an alert with a snapshot of the gate whenever the z-wave magnetic switch is opened; as HS3 will command the cloned camera to become triggered.

We use HomeSeer. We also use the Blue Iris plugin and Pushover plugin. This way the cameras can be isolated from the Internet.

When an event that we wrote fires based on a motion trigger from Blue Iris to the BI PI, a number of things may/can happen, one of which is a Pushover message to our phones and tablets. An email could also be sent from HS3 but we prefer the instant notification from Pushover.

And continuing...

Yes, HS3 is not cheap nor is it an "out of the box" solution.

That said, the price we paid and the time investment is well worth it in our opinion. HS3 goes on sale usually in May and November and is priced at about $250 - software only, you'll need a computer, minimal requirements, to run it.

It took us about 6 months to get things 90% dialed in - our home is truly automated as opposed to controlled. We continue to tweak events based on our changing requirements (and it is satisfying).

YMMV

Edit: I just checked and HS3 standard is 249.95; HS3 Pro, which we have but many won't need, is 599.95.
