I noticed that the time displayed by my HDW5830RP-Z camera was off from the time displayed by BI on
the video image. I have the two times displayed in the image. It was the camera's time that was
wrong.

I remembered that the NTP server IP address had changed so I went in and fixed it in the camera.
All was well.

But wanted to change the time string position of the BI time displayed in the video. I went into
edit overlays and nothing was shown in the box at the top of the pop up window. So I selected
a date format and a time format. I like the time at the bottom right of the video window.
In the font selection only centered, left align, or right align were the choices. I chose right align.
When I saved and exited the time and date was in the center of the screen as well as my original date and time on the bottom right.

I go in and make the font smaller. Now I have 3 date and time strings, large font centered, small font on top of the large font, and my original date and time on the bottom right. A real mess.

I disable overlays and the mess disappears as well as the camera name on the bottom left. I re-enable
and the mess re-appears. There does not seem to be a way to delete the 2 date and time strings
from the center of the screen.

I am running the latest BI, rev 4.8.4.6 x64.

Just click and hold the time display and drag it to where you want. Right click on it and edit and then clear the string to delete it.

??? I tried to click and grab the time string but I cannot move it. If I right click it brings up the camera control popup.
That box contains the "camera properties ...", "Play live audio", etc menu. In there I can bring up the overlays edit
popup as I described but that is not working properly.

I never remember being able to move the text overlays using the mouse. Does that work on some systems?

go to camera properties/video and beside the "enable overlays" click the edit button.....then do like I said in earlier post.

It is recommended to use the time setting on the camera. It is my understanding if you use the time setting in BI for the video it will require more re-encoding when using direct to disk on play back .

I use both BI time and date and the camera's time and date function. That way
I can easily see then they are not aligned. I am not really resource constrained
so that is not an issue.

The reason is that when you use direct to disk, only the overlays done by the camera will make it into the video file. BI can add overlays during export, but this requires re-encoding the video which is slow and reduces quality.
