Hi and thanks in advance.

I'm trying to source a 2.1mm wide angle lens IP dome camera that is Hikvision / Onvif compatible.
A number of retailers refer to 2.8mm as wide angle, but that isn't particularly wide compared to 2.1mm.

This is to upgrade an existing analogue 2.1mm dome camera. The requirement is to have the same lens type to ensure a similar capture coverage.

Anyone aware of anything on the camera market (or maybe customise an existing camera with an alternative lens)?

Solutions that have been considered but are not appropriate in this instance:
* Make do with a 2.8mm camera | Not sufficient coverage
* Use an analogue to IP converter unit | Poor quality image from analogue camera, hence the IP camera upgrade.
* Relocate the camera back | No physical space to achieve this.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I've run out of ideas!

Many Thanks

Phil

I have purchased lenses a few years ago likethis on eBay to change some IP cams from 4.0mm to 2.8, etc. Look for other vendors, lenses, etc. that suit your needs including mount/thread size.

Hi Tony, Thanks, yes, I've seen these but have no idea what model of camera these might fit.
Would one of these be a direct replacement on a Hikvision camera?

Thanks

Not sure. Many are 12mm thread size ("M12"), as shown below from one eBay site. I'd unscrew the Hik lens and measure. It would be a $10 gamble as opposed to replacing with a more costly cam that doesn't have the correct lens anyway.

Your premise is flawed. The focal length is not the only determining factor of FOV. A modern 1080p at 2.8mm is likely to have a wider fov than your old analog camera at 2.1.

what f'man said. put a 2.8mm ip cam there and if it's not wide enough open it up and replace the lens with an appropriate M12 easily available on Amazon or Ebay.
that said, i've replaced a bunch of M12's but never gone wider than 2.8 (why would one need to?), so there may be some focal-length issues involved there...

It's a camera recording close up footage of an (albeit very small) entrance lobby so to capture as much as possible the angle needs to wide. I've tried a Hikvision 2.8mm dome IP cam which doesn't provide as much viewing angle as the old analogue dome camera.

OK, I'll order an Ebay lens and give it a go. It's a low cost gamble.

Thanks all to those who have replied! My search continues......
