180809 makes my doorbell "ding dong" until I answer or it times out... I don't recall 180726 doing this...
it sounds great with the ding dong. 180726 only makes ding not dong on my doorbell. but i will wait for the next firmware since my 180726 is working ok. well it does occasionally skip video for a few seconds and occasionally even detects and record no video even thou there was a person right in front of the door for just a few seconds. this is a bug in the firmware as many have experienced the same here in the this thread.

Anyone else getting update failed halfway through using ivms4200 for 180809? Any workarounds? I'm using a Mac and I can't do it through a browser. I was able to update using this software before in the past...

You could try placing the update file on the memory card and restarting the doorbell.
I updated and currently run 180809 RyanODan posted on Jan 3, pg 80 on 1 LTS and 2 LaView doorbells...

I've read the first 32 pages of this and plan to scan through the rest...
When I took my device apart to remove the LED's, I noticed a USB connection.
I remember early on someone working with the code, I'm guessing they connected through this...
Has anybody connected through USB lately ??

There's a flat cover above the reset button that will allow access. MicroUSB...

I tried when we first got the DB1 but it continually rang the chime over and over after I plugged it in. Could've been something wrong on my part but didn't spend to much time on it. I'm also curious if anyone has established a connection through it.

It's microUSB, not the newer Type C.

I would recommend you do the following:
1. upgrade firmware to 180726. so far this is the best and the most stable one i had tested.
2. get a 16V 30VA or 24V 30VA transformer. higher power output transformer greatly boost the doorbell wifi reception. i couldn't do any initial setup at all with a 16V 10VA transformer.
2. get a repeater next to the doorbell if you wifi signal to doorbell is too weak or fluctuates in big range.
I upgraded to 180809 this weekend and did a complete reset and added to Hik-connect App. Good news is that all functionality (live view, door bell call and event play back) appears to work consistently *if I am on the local wifi network*. Trying to connect from work wifi or just cellular network (Verizon) does not appear to work fully. From cellular, live view loads and freezes after a couple of frames. I get notifications of motion on cellular, but can not playback the video. This doesn't make any sense. If the door bell wifi or network connection (or even the hik server) is weak, it should not work at all, but it works fine If I am at home. I've monitored my Router (Asus AC3200 running Merlin) and it appears that this unit does not do UPNP, just a constant connection to a server on Amazon cloud (and a bunch of quick connections to Chinese IPs(!) and some to Private IPs which fail). I have a gigabit connection at home and at work, so bandwidth is not a problem either.

I updated to 180809 a couple weeks ago when Ryan first posted the update (180809 RyanODan posted on Jan 3, pg 80)
I also run Verizon and still have my unlimited data plan from years ago, so I never use wi-fi, only cellular...
I don't have any freezes as you mention, but sometimes motion alerts don't come through if my phone has been idle for long periods of time.
As soon as I "wake-up" my phone, the alert comes through...
I have both Hik-Connect and the RCA app running on my Samsung S6...

I have this same wake up delay with my verizon phone as well, (using Sighthound APP)

Ive looked everywhere in my phone notificaion settings, and cant seem to get this worked better.

This might be a result of the Doze feature on the latest major releases of Android: Inside Marshmallow: What is Doze, how do I use it and what does it do?

that all depends on the location so without any of that information or pictures I can't really say. It doesn't angle it much but helps in some scenarios.

It would help a little bit but there will most likely still be some wall in the view.

I did not test 180809. i only have 180726 running. I had the same experience that when I only had the 16Vac 10VA transformer i had no problem viewing live streaming using IVMS-4200 on a desktop computer using local network. but it just constantly dropped of the phone app as offline. if you are not using a 16vac/24vac 30VA transformer i would suggest you replace with a 30VA transform depend upon your chime voltage requirement, i.e. 16vac vs 24vac.

The way you described having everything work locally but not remotely gives me the impression of very low speed of upload speed. it could be the limited upload speed from your ISP, or limitation on your router. When I switched from Verizon FIOS 100mbps down/100mbps up to Cable 150 mbps down/25 mbps, i could see real difference in live streaming. FIOS was very smooth while cable always had lag here or there.

Where does one download the 180726 firmware? I haven't had much luck searching for it on google.

I have been using the 2 DB1 for more than a year. i had similar symptoms in November even though I replaced with a 16V 30VA transformer. but the 16V 30VA transformer was powering 2 doorbells at the same time. What the problem, as i investigated was the wifi signal degraded as weather changes and and temperature dropped. i am in the north east and November 2018 had a lot of rains. I saw the signal quality of the two doorbells on my wifi router fluctuated in a big range so the signal sometimes dropped to a very low level.

So after i replaced with a new ac1900 router with 4 antenna with 1 of the 4 antenna laying perpendicular to other 3 antenna to create a better wifi signal coverage to my doorbell and with dual band, i shifted all computer or phone related heavy traffic suckers to 5 GHz and left only smart, low bandwidth consumption devices on 2.4 GHz. it was great after the switch. Everything worked flawlessly.
