So I am struggling with the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras, and I am sure it is my own fault. I have a mixture of several models of cameras, and currently even my super cheap china cameras do well at night, and the video from these is almost useless.

So I have them hooked up to a NVR5232-16P-4KS2E NVR. It doesn't have a lot in the way of settings. The cameras are just running the firmware they shipped with.

1. How can I access the cameras through the NVR, or can I even do that. My own network is on a 10.10.x.x private subnet. My NVR then plugs directly into the router. The cameras currently all are on a 192.168.X.X subnet. I have in the past had them both on the same, but still could never get to the cameras.

2. Is there a best recommended settings for those cameras ? I take it you have to do the config on the camera, as it doesn't seem like any NVR settings help. Or maybe it is cause I need a better firmware.

Any links to things to read, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I understand these are supposed to be amazing cameras.

Thanks in advance.

post your videos.
watch the videos of these cameras - they are fantastic, you have something set incorrectly or are doing something incorrectly.

There should be a screen on the NVR that lists the cameras with an Internet Explorer-looking icon next to them. If you click on the icon, it should connect you directly to the camera's web interface.

The default firmware and config for the cameras usually still results in decent looking low-light video. If you could post up some examples of what you're seeing, hopefully it's something that's been seen before with an easy fix!

Here are some screen shots. Camera registration seems to be the only area with connect or setup buttons. If I click the pencil edit on a camera in registration then I get this modify screen. I can change settings there, but if I click connect it doesn't do anything, and the setup button is disabled doesn't even click. If I change login info etc, then I lose connection to the camera and have to do the master reset on it to get it back.

The upper left corner is a cheap camera with lights on. lower left is what it looks like with IR off, lower right with IR on. But then again, I cant get to the camera menu, so there isn't much tweaked on it.

I'll confirm that the 5231s give a decent picture with the default settings. Having the chinese market cameras as a baseline, you can expect night video from the 5231 to have better contrast, less motion blur, and make some things visible that you just don't see with the chinese market cameras. I'm assuming that cameras 3 and 4 are 5231s. The camera 3 IR image might be ok considering no light. How do you have the IR turned off? I thought you had to log onto the camera to do that. Any chance there's a reflection of some sort messing up the camera 4 picture?

You need to get out of the machine interface of your NVR and go to thew Web Interface. Open a browser and go to the IP address of your NVR. Something like 192.168.1.X

On the Registration page of the NVR interface you'll see little blue IE icons, those should open your individual camera web interfaces where you need to get to if you want to adjust the camera, you're not going to do it playing in the NVR machine interface...

So I have done numerous things. I can connect to the nvr using chrome and the chrome app. I also ensured that chrome was the default browser just in case.
When I click the little IE icon nothing happens. The only button that does anything in the registration screen is the edit pencil, which gives me the modify dialog. I can click connect, it does nothing, and setup is grayed out.

I am wondering if it is some kind of routing configuration or something. I made sure my network router had upnp installed. my isp is on a 192.168 subnet. my own network is a 10.x.x.x with a 255.0.0.0 class A subnet mask. my device is at 100.0.55.230 address, while my cameras are all 10.1.1.65 etc

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i would like to be able to get in and tweak the settings, but can't get there.

Don't use Chrome. Grab Pale Moon 32 bit. Then click the "ie" icon and login to the camera itself with the same user/pass that is on your NVR.

Ok, now I have something to play with ! I installed 64bit, figured out I have to do 32bit. Now I am in business. Thanks. Are there any links to best liked configurations ? The main cameras I am playing with are IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Turret camera, and the IPC-HFW5231E-Z5E bullet camera

Thanks in advance,
Steve
