Since RCA tech support keeps reiterating that ONVIF and RTSP are not supported and not supposed to work on both HSDB1 and HSDB2, I hope RCA can't tweak the Hik firmware to remove features like RTSP....

See the company line earlier in this thread that I've also seen in the various HSDB1 threads as well. I've also been told that same message when I called in to RCA for support on my HSDB1 even though I tell Technician that I was recording fine to my Dahua NVR via ONVIF and use RTSP stream to tinycampro on my phone.

Yeah, my first call was painful but once we got to 2nd line Techs they seemed to be more knowledgeable about the product over the past year. I'm guessing they went through same learning curve for HSDB2 since it's a rebranded Hik doorbell.

On a separate topic, I saw a CNET article covering CES 2019 where they mentioned "Ezviz also says its new Wi-Fi-enabled buzzer works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant." I haven't been able to find anything in the Ezviz app so maybe it'll be in a future firmware update(crossing my fingers)...

I just installed this RCA HSDB2A yesterday. From the RCA app it streams great. In BI, it is very jerky and misses whole seconds at a time. Today I watched the delivery truck drive up, a package "appeared" on my door step, then the vehicle drove away. Never saw a person in the videos. I can reproduce this any time by watching the BI live stream or recorded video. Video overlay ticks by fluidly for a bit, then stalls for 2-10 seconds, then ticks again.

Any suggestions?

Serious bummer about no control over IR, image settings, etc. Otherwise, the picture looks good. Improved over the DB1 I had.

Hmmmm. Odd about your playback. I'm not getting that from my end. My set-up is running BI in a Windows VM on an unRaid server. I never expect smooth with my set-up like that, but I am pleased. See attached sample from this morning.

Are you using "Generic/ONVIF" and "RTSP H.264..."? Any reason to change RTSP port or Recieve buffer size?

Yes on the "Generic" & "RTSP" config (I just followed what was suggested on this forum is all.)
My Receive Buffer is 6.0MB if that helps you to find the answer.
What is your BI set-up like? Maybe others more experienced than I could help if they knew that.

I upgraded to firmware v5.2.4 build 190124 this morning and my RTSP stream works fine as expected. Color seems better now.
Same with me

FWIW in my deployment, BI feed is the exact same quality as the RCA app (which is excellent)

Thanks for this confirmation. Did mine this AM and works great.
(I did have to use their SAPD tool to find the IP address though...)

Fyi, I am now able to get my HSDB2 working with my Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 NVR! It was a negative to not have ONVIF capability like my HSDB1 model but now happy that my HSDB2 is recording to my NVR. No IVS since it's a Hik so still have to rely on motion detection/alert via Hik-Connect app.

so I take it that the nvr is just recording the doorbell 24/7, but when it sences motion and doorbell presses the app takes care of that?

Yes, that is the minor issue since HSDB2(Hikvision) is not compatible with Dahua IVS so it's continuous recording with no IVS triggered events in timeline. I just reference the timestamp in app to NVR when there is a need to review footage before/during/after the motion detection event.

Thanks for the clarification

NP. Basically, it's the same way on my older HSDB1 doorbell on my Dahua NVR. Only difference was the previous version was ONVIF compliant so easier to add which they removed in HSDB2.
