Noob looking for POE system

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a POE system. I would like a system that includes 4 cameras and an 8 channel NVR for future growth. I would like a system that supports IVS features. I would also seek good night image with IR. Can you provide model numbers for recommendations? I am not looking to break the bank. I have a budget of around $500.

$500 is too low for 4 cameras + NVR. Please check the wiki, cliff notes and tools

@Mike is correct. At $500, you can get some cheap cameras, and the image quality and reliability will be shit. Sorry for the word, but it's the best description for what happens when you cheap out on the cameras. Expect to spend from $120 to $150 each for a quality camera that will better suit your needs.

Camera packages from Lorex, Q-See, and others typically include bullet cameras, which draw spiders and insects. Users here will recommend turret cameras instead, to avoid these issues. The other problem with packages is, you're stuck with whatever cameras they bundled, with no ability to choose lens or image sensor or field of vision.
