After reading many great posts in this forum and spending hours trying to set up my NVR and cameras, I realize what I had hoped would be a fun project has swept me into the deep end, way over my head. I'm hoping someone here has the patience to help explain to a newbie all the intricacies of a complicated NVR and camera set up? I don't know how much longer I can tread water? It's all Greek to me.
NVR DS-7608NI-I2/8P with 2 Exir DS-2CD2043G0-I cameras
I'm a PC Windows-7 guy with an Android phone and Tablet that may be occasionally used to remote view??

Presently I can view both cameras on the monitor plugged into the POE ports, but before I pole mount them I want to ensure they are set up to record motion events on the microSD card as well as on the NVR. I can't seem to access the camera now to initialize the SD card or configure it's motion event recording. And the cameras don't show up in the "list" on the NVR anymore?

The cameras will eventually be connected at my front gate through a POE injector and a TP-link powerline adapter that did pass a test on the bench. The video came through nicely to the NVR.
Now I want to ensure the cameras are set up before I mount them. I had hoped to back up my NVR with the SD cards in case the NVR was compromised or stolen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@777hemi,
What changed that your NVR no longer sees your cameras?
Can you remote to each camera individually? That is where the setup for MicroSD will be.

Where abouts in Canada are you located?
That is the same NVR I have and have been using it for over a year now, did take some learning to setting it up.
For the most part all my settings are driven on the camera side, very little on the NVR side.

but lately my focus has shifted to using BlueIris.

Thank you for the link, I let you know how it goes.
The NVR still shows the video from the cameras, they just do not show up in the "list anymore on the NVR.
BTW I'm on Van Is., BC.

Thank you very much, I'll check these out and see if I can access my cameras to format the sd card.
I must be inputting the wrong IP address or something??
Ok Finally success! Thank you guys for the help!!
I didn't realize I needed to access the NVR via it's IP on my PC.
I had been trying to find and enable the Virtual Host through the NVR's GUI itself, and it just wasn't there.
So once I enabled the virtual host, found the camera and was finally able to initialize the micro SD.
I'm sure very basic stuff for all of you on this site, but networking is all Greek to my and I have trouble in English,
so thanks to all for the help.
Now to deal with all the other settings,,,,one at a time.
At least now I feel confident I can mount the cameras and still be able to access their parameters through the Virtual Host.
Many thanks. J.
