Hi all,

I'm a noob, it's been awhile since I played with the networking stuff...I need help. I'm trying to do the camera setup, as mentioned in the cliff notes pg 41: trying to update the ip address and the password of the cameras but I'm not able to connect to it.

I have a BV-tech 8-port POE. I Connect the PC to the BV-Tech uplink port, and ONE camera to a POE port. On the PC, go to the ethernet adapter properties, and change the IPv4 address to 192.168.1.1. and tried to connect to the camera via 192.168.1.108 but it does not connect. I ping the address but no response. I know the address is correct 192.168.1.108, I was given this address when I placed the order, and the camera uses this address when I plugged it into my NVR.

I have the IPC-HFW4831E-SE and IPC-HDBW4631R-AS.

Cables are good, Cat5e, camera has power, lights are blinking on the switch ports.

What am I missing???

This solved it!!!

So, the problem was created when I first received the camera from China, I plugged it into the NVR to test and make sure it works, because of a short return window time frame. Once I did that, the NVR overwrote the IP address of the camera and it is no longer 192.168.1.108 and that was why I cannot PING or connect to it.

Lesson learned. Wasted so much time and went thru 2 POE switches.

A handy tool I've found for Windows (if you're using that os) is Angry IP Scanner. Does a great job of finding every network device on the network.
