Hey friends: @fenderman, @looney2ns, @aristobrat and all other senior experts here...

Have you guys ever thought about doing a weekly 30-45 mins podcast where you discuss everything popular regarding cam installs, whether its a new (or existing) cam, poe switches, tricks and tips, new products, etc. etc.. A video podcast would even be cooler so we can SEE the product demos, how to setup a cam, the list is endless....

I am truly thankful for all the knowledgeable folks I read posts from on this site. I also read stuff from ubiquiti and reddit subforums but for me, IPCamtalk is THE MOST RESPONSIVE and ACTIVE forum I have been a part of. Cheers to you, all.

I am curious if you all do that.

On our side, we did a few podcasts but overall they received low engagement vs our posts and videos. We may very well have done it wrong or this might not be a great topic for podcasts. Curious to see your results if you try.

I have thought about it extensively, I just don't have the knowledge or quite frankly the time. I would definitely need some help with it but would love to do it if someone wanted to help!

I can definitely lend a helping hand wherever it may be needed. I agree, time is the biggest enemy, but if enough people chip in, it just may be something manageable.

For example, one topic could be to discuss the basics of different models of recommended cams. A lot of us know about a basic POE infrastructure, you’d be surprised how many don’t know a thing what POE is. The list is endless. I can put together an extensive list of topics that can be discussed.

There are many home automation related podcasts, none that I have found on the home security cam topic.

I used to help produce a weekly, audio only, "narrowcast" for the ham radio audience. We were very lucky and had access to the studios of the local public TV station, all pro level gear, so recording was a snap. Even with that, the recording portion for a half hour segment was about an hour, or longer, depending on how many jokes got put into the script to trip up the voice man. That doesn't count the time to write a script and that could take hours over a few days. It's a big can of worms if you want it to be professional and enjoyable.

The fundamental problem would be trying to make enough money to justify the amount of time required and investment in equipment and cameras if it were a regular thing. It used to be a lot easier to justify the time that goes into a youtube channel or website like that of the late networkcameracritic (ad $ was much better).
