I have two 2CD2042WD-I (XC-2042WDI displayed as within camera admin panel) cameras running the latest firmware that will freeze when motion is detected this happens in both iVMS-4200 PCNVr and also the iPhone iVMS-4500 app. They were freezing with the original firmware too. When the moving object is out of frame they will unfreeze and continue to update frames normally.

Both cameras are hardwired over CAT6 running on their own network with the NVR PC.

I can shut down the NVR computer and connect to the camera using only the iPhone app and still have the same issue.

The recordings of motion at playback are fine without lag.

Details Below any help appreciated!

why only 1.3MP (1280*720) when the cams can do 4mp?

anyways, try reducing your frame rate. don't need 30fps for surveillance. 15fps is plenty.

also, set your I-frame interval to match your frame rate (eg 15).
at 30fps with 250 i-frame interval, you've got a full (iframe) only every 8-1/3 seconds...
at 15fps with iframe interval of 15, you've got an iframe every second.

I think I reduced resolution to try to fix the lag. I'll try those adjustments and report back,

Reducing the FPS to 15 did the trick as far as the lag. I also tried to boost the resolution to 4k and the picture froze and wouldn't even come back after reboot.

odd about the resolution. Did you set the I-frame interval as i suggested?

they don't support 4k (8MP). the 2042 goes up to 4MP (or about 2k)
maybe try 2MP/1080p first.

I just adjusted IFrame interval to 15, not sure if it helped or not.

I can't seem to get past 1080p without freezing issues. At 2304x1296 the iPhone app lags but doesn't freeze and iVMS on PC freezes.

There is no baseline profile I can find. Only Main Profile and High Profile, I am using Main Profile. I was able to set resolution without issue to 2688X1520 but only if I set video quality to Medium. Anything above causes issue. What exactly does "Video Quality" mean when you have other parameters like resolution which are better descriptions of quality anyways?

basically, it's a matter of how much compression is applied to keep the stream within the bitrate limit configured.
if you specify a quality that can't fit into the configured bit rate, something has to give, usually frame rate.
but at 16000kbps, you should easily be able to get highest quality with 4MP cams, especially at frame rate of 15 or less.

sorry, but I don't know what else you might try...
