The NVR has bit the dust and now I want to start using Blue Iris for my two Hikvision 2CD2332i Cameras.
I've looked at the post on hardware, but I don't want to get an I7 if an I5 would do the job. I'll post the settings for my cameras and see what you guys suggest. Thanks

Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Bitrate: Variable
Frame Rate: 10 fps
Video Quality: Highest
Max Bitrate: 2048 Kbps
Encoding: H.264
I Frame Interval: 10
SVC: On

That's a pretty light load so an i5 will more than handle it, 5th generation or newer. You could double the bit rte and probably not even notice additional CPU utilization.

Honestly that load is so low that an i3rd gen and up can easily handle it... Generally the i5 are not that much more expensive so I would look for and i-5 3rd gen... You can pick those machines up for a hundred bucks with Windows 10... If you want something newer you can generally pick up i-5 6500 elitedesk or pro desk for about 180 to 200.

Ok,thanks for the replies. I'll look for a i5-6500.
Is 8gb of ram enough? Is it one of those things where it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

For the $20-25 price difference, might as well. If you buy a PC with 4, just buy another stick.

Found a guy with a HP Elite desk 800 G1 SFF with 8gb ram, Win 7 and ssd. Also has keyboard and mouse. I'm not worried about win 7,I can buy win 10. He wanted $100 plus shipping, but said he would do $80 shipped. How's that for a deal? I also saw a G2 but wasn't sure why the difference was between them.

If those cams are the extent of your system then from just the application perspective you are overbuying.

I'm running four 2MP cams, one 4MP cam, and for shits and grins a USB cam that I don't know the MP of for sure; somewhere between 1 and 2MP I'd guess. All the cams are set to 10fps except the USB at 5fps.

I'm using an i7-3770 w/8 GB RAM. It runs something on the order of 7 - 8% CPU and 30 - 35% memory.

don't overlook craigslist. I picked up a full sff machine for $50.. forget all the specs but it was an i7, 16gb ram and ssd.. my minimum requirements...

Even though I'm over buying,is this still not a good deal? It may come in handy if I ever decide to add more cameras or adjust FPS,etc.

Well,I requested more info on that PC,but the seller hasn't replied. I know he's seen the message.

Anyways,I have a guy who is local who has the 800 G1 SFF with the i5-4590 and 8gb ram. NO OS or HDD which isn't a big deal. He sells refurbished Grade A+ PCs so I'm think about picking this up.
He selling it for $70,what do you think?

Do you already have the os or a valid license key?
