Does anyone know if the launch date for Sentry/BI Integration has changed? It was originally planned for go-live on 2/25, but the countdown on the website is now gone......
https://www.smarthomesentry.com/sentry-smart-alert
We got pushed back on the development cycle. Hoping just a week later, but do not want to commit to a new date yet. Apologies for delay.

anyone notice a delay in MQTT motion alerts since updating from 4.8.4.8 to 4.8.5? As soon as I downgrade to 4.8.4.8 the motion alerts are working properly, seems something changed and now not every motion alert comes through. There were so many motion changes I am assuming this is a bug.

Also for those that are weary about sending photos to Sentry consider looking into Tensorflow with Home Assistant, you can host it at your home and the results are very good. I get notified about people detection within a second of Blue Iris motion alerts, that was how I came to find the motion alert issue in 4.8.5 because the frequency dropped.

Would you mind sharing, at a high level, your configuration for Tensorflow and BI? I’m interested in testing it out.

Sure thing! So I use Home Assistant which is setup on a server in my own home. If you have not heard of Home Assistant just be prepared for a lot of setup and learning :). The Tensorflow installation/configuration can be found here: TensorFlow

The actual guide that I followed is here (note there are 2 mentioned in the link): Improving Blue Iris with Home Assistant, TensorFlow, and Pushover

For my own Home Assistant integration and automations I have my configuration posted on github:

Thanks for the detailed info! I have used Home Assistant before, you are definitely right that it is a lot of learning :)

I also use Pushover for alerts outside of my motion zones from Sighthound. I still have a Hone Assistant VM set up that I can test with. I’ll share my experience/questions as I test it out.

SmartHomeSentry has been reaching out. Here's my exchange with their Lead of Customer Success:

Yes, I know how to bulk delete but unless you empty your trash too you'll have 30 days of emails in the trash...which still uses space and could put me over the limit if I went on vacation and had forgotten to turn it off.

It would be nice to flag or tag the alerts (Sentry identified a person) in Blue Iris because I do most of my review the next morning and it would be easier to use the BI timeline to see only alerts with people.

I know this is new but leaving it email based is going to be problematic for many BI users. I suspect most BI users are not your typical "Ring" users who just want a doorbell cam but we would like your AI that identifies people.

Thanks for seeking my feedback.

Hello Craig,

I'm glad to know that you find our services useful. Currently, as you are testing out Sentry directly, you might receive many emails.

To clean up your email sent box in bulk, simply type in "In: sent To: image" in the search bar on your Gmail, and select then delete all of them at once. This way, you can still enjoy the service without the email capacity get full.

Once our product is launched, we can assist you with changing the setting and you will no longer have emails in your sent box anymore.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!
Best regards,

I had it enabled for a short time and it successfully identified a person in a few images with no false positives. I’m hoping the blue iris integration isn’t email based because I think it’s very useful.

Thanks for reaching out.

Yuting from Sentry has been reaching to me as well for feedback. So far the service has been very accurate. I've received 2 or 3 false positives during night and a few false negatives that Sighthound Video got correct. Overall Sentry generates far less false positives than Sighthound. It is my understanding that Sentry is going to integrate with BI. BI is going to send the image via Sentry's API and then BI will alert you with a snapshot of the motion via push, email, text, etc,

You are correct pmcross. I need to follow up with Yuting. Sentry's pilot service only sends text alerts, no email alerts, thus we never fill up anyone's email. We receive camera alerts via email in our pilot.

With the Blue Iris integration, we will receive the camera alerts from the Blue Iris application via our API. And we return the Sentry Smart Alert via the API and Blue Iris will alert the user by their Blue Iris alert settings: email, text, mobile app etc.

1. Glad to hear it's a more integrated (API) solution with BI.
2. My concern with filling up my mailbox was with the sent items coming from BI and going to Sentry Smart not the texts coming from Sentry Smart.

Thanks

Oh! Got it. You are correct, with our pilot, which you are connected to at the moment, we use email to get the images for inspection by our computer vision engine. Thus, if your camera triggers 100 alerts, then 100 emails will be sent to Sentry via your email account.

Once we go live with the Blue Iris integration, the Blue Iris app will only communicate with the Sentry system via our secure API. Thus emails will no longer be needed in order to communicate with the Sentry AI engine. In addition, all alerts to the user will be received via your Blue Iris configuration: email, text, mobile etc.

Where can i find more info on Sentry. Like pricing? I have been using BI for several years and I do have false triggers from palm tree shadows and car headlights at night that despite my settings I can't get rid of them and still have good motion detection from actual threats. This is the first i ever looked into other options besides BI built in detection. But what's it gonna cost and whats the Lag going to be like processing it somewhere offsite.

Sentry put up pricing and then removed it. The pricing was very reasonable (plans starting at $1 per camera I believe), but I suspect that prices are going to increase and that's why they took them down until after go-live. They also offered a bundled deal including BI. There were different options for current and new BI users. The current setup, which involves BI emailing a snapshot of the motion to Sentry and then Sentry sending a text message with the image takes about 6 seconds round trip. Once go-live occurs (supposedly next week), Sentry and BI will be integrated and will call each others API's, so you will receive alerts from BI.

Thanks,

I have two systems with 10 cameras each. That's around 240 a year. Maybe reasonable but not cheap compared to BI pricing I pay now. I guess a test will see how well it works.

6 sec round trip would be an issue but I'm hoping cutting out Email and Text should help with that.
