Hello All,

So , as the title says -- wifi IP camera's

Preferably around the 2MP image quality - can anyone recommend any decent makes that are worth consideration ?

My main system is all hardwired, but I have 1 garden location where power is available but hard cabling is a difficult option

I can see loads (thousands) of "wifi IP cams" on ebay - but I'd rather ask you lot for recommendations on what is worthwhile rather than buy something that is about as much use as a sunroof on a submarine !

I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference. Probably not, we just get more rain :) :)

Have a great week & thanks in advance for any replies

If it's an exterior camera exposed to the elements, wifi is strongly disadvised. What I can recommend is a wired POE camera via LAN to a wireless router that is protected from the elements. This router would act as a wireless bridge into your home LAN. The benefit is, the router's wireless signal is likely to be much stronger and more focused than any camera's built-in single-antenna wifi.

Any camera can be made wifi using a wireless bridge. Also consider point to point wireless solutions like ubiquiti. There are may threads discussing this.

dahua makes some good ones. I have a floureon one (generic w/ brand name) which works ok. wifi from outside tends to have bad signal but if you buy a larger antenna then it can work better. if you can, use ethernet.
