Hello,

I’ve finally decided to update my 10 year old NVR and after extensive research decided that blue iris is the right choice for what i’m trying to accomplish. Ideally, I would like to run 25-30 4MP cameras running at 15 fps. For live viewing, I want to connect 2 HDMIs directly from the MOBO (using a splitter) to two TVS that will be running 24/7. For remote viewing, I will use a client to site VPN that a maximum of 3 people will be viewing at a time.

Does this build seem sufficient for what i’m trying to do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

- Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
- Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
- Inland - 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
- x3 or x4 - Western Digital - Purple 2 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
- EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
- MSI - MAG Z390 Tomahawk ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Heres the link to the build on PC Part Picker : System Builder - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core - PCPartPicker

If there’s only one HDMI port on the motherboard is it ok to just use a splitter to go to two separate TVs for live viewing or will that cause lag? And does anyone use RAID10 or any other RAID array at all or is this unnecessary?

Thanks for your time!

I'm just a newb and am still learning, but I would change the small purple drives to 1 large. It'll be cheaper upfront and for power consumption. How many days are you planning on keeping your recordings?

If you utilize ui3 as your viewer then all you need are smart TV's (with built-in in web browser apps) running on the same LAN as your Blue Iris server. Search ipct.com for topics on using ui3.htm to view BI video on smart TV's.

Assuming 2MP cameras (bad assumption?) the answer to your question can be determined by the following formula: 15fps * 2.1mp = 31.5MP/s per camera. 31.5 megapixels per second x 30 cameras equals a 945MP/s load on your i9 cpu.

hdmi splitter will not add lag. can always run 10 or 12 fps vs 15 if needed.

multiple drives allows 'striping' the cams across them, so not limited by one drive's max write speed.

UI3 seems perfect for this setup. Multiple people will be live viewing throughout the day so I want to make access to settings limited so nothing gets messed up.

Im planning on going with 30x Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 2MP that I will be running at 15 fps. So it seems like i'm definitely in the clear based on what you posted.

But now i'm even more indecisive after reading a few threads about certain cameras being better for theft prevention. I know the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE's will be good for outdoor use, but if the majority of the cameras (about 20) will be used inside a business for theft prevention would 4MP maybe better suit my scenario for indoor cams?

What camera’s did you end up buying for increased theft prevention?

I ended up just sticking with the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE for indoors and outdoors. I only setup one so far in a 50ft aisle, but judging by what i've seen so far it definitely seems like the right choice.
