Back in November or December I replaced my aging and dying screen Galaxy S5 with a shiny new Galaxy S9.

The S9, generally speaking, seems to work great. However, the ISP email accounts I have set up on the phone apparently lose the passwords. I'll get emails just fine for some period of time, weeks usually, then out of the blue I'll notice a message didn't send then shortly I get a dialog message on the phone to the effect of "password has changed, enter new password to continue." I have not (recently anyway) changed passwords.

If I go directly to the ISP email system, the login password I expect to work works just fine.

Thoughts?

What app are you using? I use K9 and have no issues

Not sure exactly; but I believe it's the default/basic email app that came with the phone. Probably a newer version of what I'd been using on the S5 without any issue.

Use a different app, the default apps suck. Use either Gmail or K9 and see if the issue is resolved

I may need to try that but there are 1/2 dozen accounts I'd have to change over. Looks like if ignore the password thing and sit tight for a while it seems to sort itself, at least for some time.

Maybe I should check to see if the ISP has made any changes to the recommended settings?

Def check with your ISP. One good thing about K9 is it can show all accounts in the same inbox.

Another vote for K9. I use it to get mail from different domains too. Works very well.
