Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to get BI to record maybe 5 seconds before & after motion?

I am also looking to see if i can get the recording settings to be more sensative. My son came home from school & his walk up the driveway started when he was half way up the driveway. Ideally I would like more feed.

It seems like if someone were at the top portion of the video, then walked away it might not record that motion.

Thanks,
Rich

See help file. and watch the instructional videos on motion detection.
Pretrigger in the record tab. Note that if you are using direct to disk, blue iris only begins recording on an iframe, therefore in the cameras web interface, set the iframe interval to match the fps.
Post trigger is the break time setting in the trigger tab.

Thanks I looked at two youtube videos - are there offical BI videos out there?

To confirm if i set record/pre-trigger for 5 seconds - that will catch the 5 seconds before the motion started?

If i set the Trigger/break time - to 10 seconds, that will catch 10 seconds after the motion stops?

So if I had a 2 second motion event it would be no smaller than 17 seconds?

One other questions - is there a way to make 'global' changes to all cameras? Say I want to set all motion sensitivity to 100 min object, 12 min contrast and all object detection to 50 pixels from 100 pixels (default) is there a way to do that for all cameras or do i need to edit each cameras individual settings?

There's no official Blue Iris tutorial videos. That is why I started them in the first place.

Yes to pretrigger question
Yes to break time question

No to last question unless your adding in a camera and "copy settings from another camera"
