You should export your settings using the option in the about tab.
I cannot think of a setting that would affect this. Could have just been come corruption in the original install or update.
So today I've been playing around with the settings and everything still works great. However, I finally learned what was causing my issue. After I did the clean install, I had to re-download some other programs to my computer to include Chrome and my BitDefender Total Security. The obvious problem was the Bitdefender program. Once I installed this, it immediately caused my issue again with the audio talking to the camera. So I added an exception in the "OnlineThreat Prevention" settings, and added the IP address to the exception. I could send an alert audio test from BI to the camera, but was not able to talk to the camera through the ios app. Once I uninstalled Bitdefender, everything works again! Guess I will have to stick with windows defender for now. Still can't believe I didn't think about this the first time.:smash:Oh well, goes to prove fenderman was right in thinking that the BI settings were correct and had not been the source of my problem, it was the antivirus/security program I was running. Hopefully this helps others in case someone has a similar issue: don't forget the obvious, and check your antivirus or firewall settings! You live and learn..

Thanks for the follow up. Bit defender has been known to cause issues with BI. Norton works fine. Regardless, of you use any av, make sure you exclude blue iris program and storage folders as detailed in the help file.

Can this camera withstand being 24/7 in a commercial refrigeration cooler with a constant temperature of 37-40 F?

What way do I insert the sd card?
The manual or the notch on the camera?

Update: i followed the way the camera listed the notch. It reads it but i think its stuck lol

Also, how do I disable the alarm? When the camera sees motion, the alarm goes off

Picking cameras for my first security system, and found this thread while trying to find a camera that will play a pre-recorded audio message ("Just letting you know you're being recorded" in lieu of siren) when it senses motion, to put near four areas I want to deter people from poking around. I've got 4 detailed questions for the experienced people here, if you don't mind:

1) Is the Lorex LNB8105X really the same camera? I've looked through the sticky's on this forum to see what's best practice, and it seems many here like Dahua because they make Lorex but put their best sensors in their own versions of the cameras. But if it's actually the same camera in this case, this Lorex-branded 4-pack for $96 each after 15% discount seems like a good deal: 4K Active Deterrence Network Security Camera (4-pack) Although maybe @EMPIRETECANDY Andy can beat that?

2) I like this camera's features, but can anyone figure out a way to keep it from being easily (& expensively) disabled with no more than a pair of scissors, because of the exposed cord? I have an 8' ceiling on my porch where I want to mount this by the front door (and 3 other locations ~8'), and anyone over ~5'10 could prob snip the cords on tip-toe with wirecutters. It seems people don't like dome cameras because of the potential for IR reflection, but if I mount an acrylic dome housing over this camera and keep the housing clean (& provide a few holes for the speaker), could that work? With the incorporated white LED, do you experts think that would eliminate the IR-flare issues with image quality, or do you think the white LED through an acrylic housing would potentially cause even more issues than the IR LEDs?

If I go with this 4-cam package, I would set up a used PC/BlueIris system ~$400, 2 other cams (possibly starlight 2231 ~$250), & $200 wiring/misc = $1250 total. But in looking at other Lorex packages on their website and elsewhere, I found this active deterrent 4-cam non-IP system for only $200 at Costco: Costco apparently also has an IP/NVR system with 6 of the Lorex versions of this Dahua cam, plus 4TB WD Purple NVR for $740.

3) Can anyone explain how an analog active deterrent cam system works with 2-way talk etc? I guess I'm just surprised analog connections can carry PIR motion detection signals/2-way audio and all that. Could the pre-recorded message be different for each camera over analog? If experts here think an analog system might work even remotely as well as a PoE system, I will give that a shot first to see if it does what I need. Basically, do you think a PoE/BlueIris system is honestly 5 TIMES as valuable? (Quite the upcharge!) Similarly, what advantages does the PC/BlueIris system have over an NVR? Does that justify an extra 70% to the system cost?

I know I could just buy these systems, and try them out in the return period, but I'd rather spend my time asking experts who've been down that road what they think, rather doing everything 2-3 times. If it helps in answering any of my questions, keep in mind that I care far more about deterrence than catching criminals/facial recognition. I've been the 'victim' of theft before where the criminal was caught (due to my own investigation), and it wasn't at all worth my time and effort to get police to eventually arrest the guy when the system gave him a slap-on-the-wrist plea bargain of home arrest for 6 months, DESPITE his prior record with theft. I have zero faith in the system here, so I just want criminals to move along to an easier target. I want to make it obvious to people poking around that their presence has been detected and is being recorded. I want something that will record even when the power goes out (I have a UPS system), and has reliable wired recording rather than say wifi cam with SD card so criminals can't just knock the cam off with a stick and walk away with the recording.

4) My final question is related to other cams I may add to this system: I was thinking the 5231 or 2231 starlight turrets based on popularity here, but they're expensive, and do I even really need starlight or varifocal lenses given my focus on deterrence rather than image detail? Especially if I provide lots of supplemental motion-detection light? One of the best things about these active deterrent cameras to me is the ~130 FOV compared to ~80 on the turrets. I've plotted the angles to cover my property, and if I go with 80 FOV cams instead of 130 for the remaining spots, I'm going to need 3 more instead of 2. And they're more expensive. Seems like in my situation with lots of supplemental light I'll be better off with fewer, cheaper, 4k sensors...and if I just get 2 more of these active deterrent cams, I gain those deterrent features everywhere, which is a big plus in my estimation.

But I'd like to know what the experts think.

Despite how freaking long that was, I forgot to point out that the much-cheaper analog active-deterrent cams also have the cord going through the base, making them much more secure-looking (and of course much cheaper to replace if they're knocked off/damaged). I just don't really know what features I'd be giving up (if any) by going analog rather than PoE. Can an analog system be managed in any way through a robust VMS like BlueIris (or other)?

Just curious on what system you decided to put together? I just received this Camera and it is on my porch. I am not worried if they cut the chord or reach up to pull it down. Because by the time they get to my porch i will have recorded them from 4 other cameras. And if i am home i will have known of them walking around due to my driveway alert chime. I have four of these chimes ( Wireless Security Alert System ) , 1.porch 2. back door 3. side of house 4. other side of house.
i turn them on at night, so when i hear one of them at night i look at my monitor and see who or what is outside. i suppose when this cameras goes off it will make them look to see where the sound is coming from, which will have them look right at the camera which will have a light shining right in their face. I believe the lorex camera is similar to this one but it doesn't have all the features. i was just wondering what you decided to go with. Happy holidays

I just want to say that these LOREX cams are actually PoE... not analog like you kept mentioning.

this is over a year old... what did you end up installing?

so, I am installing a new BI server with these cameras as the LOREX NVR Died and thought it was a good time to do this with BI finally. so I have audio thanks to this post but I am curious how do I activate to talk back through the camera and how can I toggle the LED Flash on it from BI... also does all this work on the android app?

Did you figure this out? There's a clear 'speaker' type button on my iOS app that works with devices that are 2-way. I am a little interested in whether this camera can be controlled in that way.

I can talk through my BI app on my phone with my active deterrence camera (not this one but I have two other types that it works for so I would think it would as well). I haven't tried to figure out if the light toggle is available.

Ok, I have solved this problem first do a find inspect, copy the onvif path, select the 1831c from the dropdown and paste the path (params should be blank). Ensure get pull point is checked AND discovery/onvif port is set to your http port. See image.
I upgraded to the latest version of BI the other day, and I'm not sure this method is still working. If I just do Find Inspect, and leave Make as Generic/ONVIF and Model as *RTSP H.264/H.265/MJPG/MPED4 and have Get ONVIF trigger events ticked then the PIR triggered events cause BI to trigger, but talk to the camera doesn't work, but If I then select Dahua and IPC-HFW1831C RTSP, then talk seems to work, bit PIR triggered events do not. Anyone still got this working, and anything I may have missed.

Work up this morning, and my (3 year old) IPC-HFW1831C-PIR is showing as Signal lost in Blue Iris. Pull the cable out at the switch end, wait, and plug it back in, and the LED's for the switch port come on ok, but camera still down. Go and look at it, and the led (between lens and pir) is just solid red. Will have to take it down, and maybe try a reset, but in mean time has anyone seen this before.

Otherwise what would be a good replacement for this. I did like the PIR, but maybe not essential as CAMs now have Smart functions such as people detection, however I did like the light that came on when the cam (PIR) detected movement. So any cams that offer that functionally. Otherwise this is above my front door, to get people coming in gate / going down path, however it may be good to also have a view of them standing by door, so wondering if one if the Dual cams my be an option, but are there any with a white light.

Thanks in advance.
