Hi All

I have a computer running a Plex server and Home seer in my garage. I just paid for Blue Iris so that part is done.

1. What IP Cam could I buy that would read a license plate 75 to 100 feet away.

2. Is there a Turret style Camera with zoom that will do what I'm asking.

thanks

Welcome @ffarrell

bigredfish and Q has given a couple of good options for your requirements. Also do see the LPR section as license plate capture during low light conditions requires tuning the camera to just capture license plates.

FWIW, generally once you tune a camera to be able to capture license plates at night, reflective license plates is the only thing the camera can see at night... most everything else will be too dark.

Thank you all for the help.

I have decided to get more then 1 cam to do the job. I've got the WAF ( wife acceptance Factor ) risen to the level of 4 cams now so it's looking good. We have had a new neighbor move in across the street that have attracted the police because there is a question of selling drugs after hours and I don't believe they are pharmacist. I just want to track the cars that come and go at night.

I went with the EmpireTech IP Camera IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 2MP Starlight WDR IR Eyeball Starlight Network IP Camera English Version. It looked to be a good all around choice. I plane to add 2 more bullets to cover my front door coming and going. lastly a wide angle for the back of house.

thank you all again
