My name is DRZmaui, I’m an IP addict.

After filling up all the slots on my second switch, running out of 1000 feet of Cat5e cable, and being on a first name basis with Andy at Empire Tech, I admit, I got a problem. Just installed my 19th camera.

In the shooting communities, it’s said once you need a second gun safe, you got problems. Think this is a similar situation.

My brother tells me my house is starting to look like a drug dealer crack house. Think my neighbor are kind of looking a little strange at me. (I’ve included some shot of my place, what do you think?)

What started my spiral fall into the rabbit hole was two things;

My wife is alone while I work nights,

There were some car break-in’s in our neighborhood.

Like many on IPCam talk, I think were pretty much similar; Middle aged to retired, keen enthusiasts/hobbyist, and came into CCTV with no intention to be so obsessed.

Before you all flame me about the height of my cameras, they serve the propose they were intended. Placing them lower would have looked pretty ‘getto’.

BTW, since placing my cameras, no break in on my side of the neighborhood. Maybe all the cameras are acting as a deterrent? The IPCameras have caught all kinds of crazy stuff (see some of my other post). And we live in a great neighborhood.

Man, you are not kidding around. No matter what anyone says, it if makes you feel safe then it's a good thing.

I understand the urge too - after installing my home system with 5 cams, I find myself walking the perimeter of my house wondering where I can put new cams. It is addicting.

Now I don't feel so bad. I only have 18 cameras. But they do come in handy. Just last week a neighbor up the street asked me if my cameras might have caught a license plate for a vehicle that damaged some of his property last week when it did a u-turn in his driveway. I was able to give him images of the front and rear plates of the vehicle.

I only have 16 and that is because of my 2 eight port NVR's. You have me beat. As with lulu5kamz I also give video to the neighbors and the police. I have USB port memory sticks on hand for just that purpose. Top picture has 4 cameras showing and the bottom picture has 6 cameras but the one over the front door is not in view.

Edit: In the top picture you can see the LED light that the neighbor added on the right. It really helped with the lighting for my cameras at night. I thanked him for it.

Cypress was such a safe area too back in the 70's... (Ball & Moody). Y'all got me beat, my 7 cams mostly show wildlife. (San Gabriel Valley Foothills)

I might add that I have upgraded all my cameras and have a spare stock of cameras plus an NVR. I am making a deal with a neighbor to install the spare Hikvision NVR and 8 spare cameras at his house. All have a 1/2.8" sensor. That way we can really cover the area. :) Also the neighbor across the street wants to work something out with the coverage. I might add that we have not had any incidences in sometime now.

I'm really impressed. Wish I could fit in PTZ cameras. Just not practical with my setup
