I use the idle function it works as I think it should. So with this setting I have posted here, it will return home (preset 1) after 30 minutes of NO movement of the cam no matter what position I leave it in.
Do you also use triggers which are configured for IVS in the NVR?
In my case i could agree to your explanation. Same here. Only if the cam was moved to a preset by a trigger from the NVR it doesn’t go back to idle position.

My problem occurs with triggers set up in the NVR. Actually, it's the only place I can set them up. This option does not appear in any of the Camera(s) IVS settings.

Yep, same to me. Somit seems the NVR does a „strange“ call to the PTZ that it won’t go back to idle position. Or maybe it’s a wanted „feature“ of Dahua to keep the cam in the position it was externally triggered. But in my opinion it should to the idle thing anyway.

Be sure you have smart codec turned off in the cams, it disabiles ivs menus.
I don’t think weigle has problems to find IVS settings in the cam. In the cams UI there is of course no trigger configuration for a PTZ in the IVS settings because the cams don’t know each other, but the NVR knows them and can trigger another cam in the case of an event.

Yes, IVS in the cams works fine. It's only the trigger to preset set up in the NVR that has become an issue. What is most troubling is, that I have not made any changes (firmware updates) to either the cams or NVR. The return to preset worked fine, until I started having the microSD card issue in the PTZ. Since then, it does not return to preset, after getting triggered. Can't explain it.

To be honest, I don’t know if it worked properly for me in the past. Because I had set the idle preset to a position the cam often is in because of the IVS triggers. Now I wanted the cam in an overview position when it’s idle and recognized that it only works if PTZ was manually moved.

I have this cam covering my back yard. When there is IVS activity on my back porch (CAM9), CAM9 IVS PTZ ACTIVATION calls the 49225 (CAM8) to Preset 9 (the back porch area).
After 60 Seconds (the minimum idle time allowed) the 49225 returns to Preset 1 as programmed.

Ok, so it seems it’s not only NVR/PTZ related as it works for you.

That alone is not worth $150, but combined with faster motors, sd card storage, and intelligent features it may or may not be, thats going to be a personal decision.

for me personally; I'll be passing on this PTZ and getting an intelligent one.. though I thought about buying one, reviewing it and then selling it on here just to review it and show it off to the gang; but thats no longer needed really since @ldasilva took the plunge for us.. I was fully confident it'd be a great camera and I could put it up for sale without issue.
What is the difference between the $500 one?

Thanks you guys, got the presets done. Looney2ns it seems I don't have that function part under my PTZ tab.

If you read back through the thread, I remember someone else having this issue. Think it may have been a faulty camera.

Question:
I have a SD49225T-HN which is "disoriented";
The PTZ reset position has the PAN azmiuth reading 3.7 degrees.
I have a Dahua OEM Amcrest PTZ camera which I believe is somewhat similar to your camera.
How mine works:
The camera does not know where North is. Where PTZ Reset(positionABS horizontal angle 0) points depends on the horizontal orientation of the camera when it was attached to the mounting bracket. Increasing camera degrees from 0 to 360 is counterclockwise.
You could develop a formula or program with true degrees as input and camera degrees as output.

Yep, that's what I have.
When I correct the 97.6 degree error manually, 0 degrees points to TN and degrees increase fro 0 to 360 counter clockiwise.
It's like something in the camera is vertically rotated 180 degrees (flipped) about the lateral (East - West) axis.
I think you’re thinking about the angles in terms of a compass and the camera uses polar coordinates. In mathematics, 0deg would be East and the angle increases CCW, north would therefore be 90deg, West=180deg, South=270deg, etc...
Polar Coordinates
Nevertheless, the camera doesn’t know where North is so there will be an offset. In my Camera, I can go into the osd settings and re-home, making the current position 0.

I went into the camera settings and setup my home for preset 1 after 10min. Setup other presets also on nvr. Now when I am trying to look around the camera goes back to preset 1 on its on way before 10 min is up. Got tired of fighting it so went back into camera settings and disable the home setting. Didn't help, reset camera to default and rebooted camera and nvr, still happens.
