I have read a lot of posts here. I have read over and over about purchasing the cheapo Dahua cameras that have the English firmware hacked on them or whatever being trash and just to pay the extra money and go with Empire Tech Andy. I have already bought 6 cameras from Andy, 1 4MP and 5 8MP. Night shots aren't what I need, these are in a business.
The cameras I purchased from Andy were as expected, no issues. I have some areas that are less critical so I showed my wife these Dahua 6MP cameras on Amazon for 68.88 that we could use to fill these areas. I told her that yall recommend passing on such cameras but we could try them out since they are Prime and can easily return them if they're trash. I realize the issue below is insignificant but it's important to me.
The first camera I received seemed fine except for the GUI being different than my others. Then I realized the time was off by an hour. After comparing the settings to the other cameras I realized it the settings were correct. I could never get the time to show the correct time. I setup a replacement return with Amazon. I received the second camera and started configuring it. I noticed that the GUI was different than the other but more like the cameras from Andy so I got a better feeling about it. I set it up one day then brought it to the business the next day. I replaced the faulty one with this and plugged it up. I checked and the time was off on this camera as well. I'll be returning this one as well and I'm finished buying the cheapos.
We will be purchasing our cameras from Andy from here on out. This post was to encourage someone like me to just drop the extra dollars and get cameras from Andy. As my wife said, one she's finished buying these cameras, we wont need any for a long time.
TL;DR
The cheapos are trash, Andy's just work.
