Hi all,

I recently setup a new Dahua NVR 4208 model. I can remotely view via iDMSS Lite or Easy Viewer Lite but no through Guarding Expert for some reason. Cam Model IPC-HDBW4431F-AS all purchased from Andy.

I have 8 different retail locations and i have various NVR's through my stores including LTS, HIK-Vision, and one from Nelly Security. They all work with Guarding Expert, i like that app as the image shows much clearer than on iDMSS Lite with the same substream settings and similar (4MP Cams) Arguably the cams from Dahua are better quality and newer but for some reason the substream looks like my old 600TVL CCTV.

Settings for substream are set to
D1
H264
10 FPS
VBR - GOOD
768 Bit Stream

  1. Does the app make that much of a difference in how the image looks?
  2. Why wont the same exact settings from iDMSS work on Guardng Expert
  3. If you could reccomend a different app that is better i am all ears.

Below i have posted 2 pictures, 1st is Dahua NVR, other is my HIK-Vision. Same Substream Settings

Thanks in advanced,
Danny

I had a quick look at Guarding Expert to see if I could get it working... which I couldn't. However in the process I noticed that GE does not have stream options in the device set-up area. Is it possible that on GE you are actually looking at the Main stream?

You are correct, i just realized that i changed it from "fluent" to "clear" on guarding expert which after reading the FAQ that is the mainstream. I did not know i can do this from iDMSS as well, the only thing that sucks is if you close the app on iDMSS it doesn't save your setting so when you re open its substream again. Guarding Expert saves the setting and is always on Main Stream once you switch it. I wonder if there is something i could do to get guarding expert to work.

Are you completely closing the app? I have an iphone as well and am using iDMSS Lite and i cannot get it to save.

I open the live preview, select the monitor on the bottom of the screen, then select the main stream option on the right....

Yep.

Did you click the blue bar at bottom to "Start Live Preview"? That saves the setting,,,

Got it, you are the MAN!

Now, how do i get rid of these ANNOYING BANDS/WAVES i see in the camera view. I have some new LED light fixtures that are extremely bright and close to the cams, its causing some interference with the cams. Ever had an issue like that?

This is the flicker frequency of the LEDs versus the camera frame rate. Try every interval, plus shutter speed variations, to see if you can minimise it.

Would setting backlight to HLC and cranking it up help?

That's what we do for nighttime LPR so headlights don't swamp the image.

Not sure how it would affect a LED source.
