Greetings all,

I have what might be a challenging front entry location. In searching my options, I came across this HIK DS-2CD2442FWD-IW cube IP cam as a possible option to install. I plan to connect using PoE, not wifi.

I have only purchased dahuas in the past. Do the same rules as dahuas apply for HIKvision cams in regards to English firmware, etc.? and is Andy from EmpireTech is also the go to guy for HIKvision cams?

thanks

Is this an indoor location?
That's an indoor camera.
Its an external, entry door, however, the door recessed and not exposed directly to the elements, if that makes sense. Here's a pic.
I must say, I've seen many entry door pics posted on this site, I can't recall seeing anything equally challenging to mine :p

Given the tight space between the edge of the wood and the stucco edge, I am hoping the HIKvision cam might squeeze right in. If so then I'll build some sort a frame around that cam so it would look flush to the wood around the door.

There's the other obvious challenge. Routing cat6 cable to that location.

I have a number of Hikvision and Annke (I61DR) cameras they may not fit in the stucco area , they are about 2.6 x 4.1 inches. The area around the door is more than likely a stud. Also the cameras have a number of opening for the SD card, power plug, poe rj45, ventilation slots, alarm wire connectors. I do not think it will last very long. In texas the bugs or the heat will kill it, plus it rains sideways here.

I purchased my cameras off of amazon, no problems , but i have not attempted to upgrade. They work great with BI. I do not use the wifi, only POE
