I bought a few IPC-HDW5231R-Z from Andy a few years back.
Looking to get a few more but looks like different cameras came out.
I was looking at the two below but not sure on the difference between them or my original IPC-HDW5231R-Z.
I want something equivalent or better.
IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
IPC-HDW2231R-ZS

Anyone have other recommendations?
Also, what's the best way to order from Andy nowadays? I see he has them Amazon now!

The first is the E(xtended) POE version of what you got. Higher performance (50fps @ fullHD - for what it's worth), but less "mickey mouse" than the IPC-HDW2231R-ZS (which has 20pfs@FullHD).

Both are Varifocal.

For orders, either you PM @EMPIRETECANDY (<--- click on his name), send him an email, or go through the webshop.

Have a nice day!

yes, HDW5231R-ZE just an update for IPC-HDW5231R-ZE, IPC-HDW2231R-ZS is cheaper, it has good day and nightvision too, no Audio and not support face detection. If budget is limited, use this one also working well

Thanks for the info.
Yeah, what's up with the look of the ZE? The black would standout too much on my white soffit. I was thinking the ZS because it whiter and would blend in better.
Was going to try to get license plates with this one, so I guess I should go with the ZE but those colors...

Yes, housing changed for the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. if you need same housing, select IPC-HDW2231R-ZS

Oh I didn't know the HDW2231R-ZS was only 20FPS, thanks for pointing that out.
So do they still make the IPC-HDW5231R-Z or do you need to buy the black housing color now?

Does anyone think a cheap Chinese camera can snag a license plate from 15ft?
HDW4433C-A I have a few of these and they've worked fine for a few years.

FWIW, grabbing plates is such a nuanced thing that it has its own sub-forum on the site here. Prob best to post that question in there, so the folks on the site that are good with LPR have a better chance of seeing it.

I use 4431 series cameras, which I assume have the same sensor and image quality as the 4433s. With a 6mm lens, they'll grab a good plate image at 15 ft in good lighting. When the lighting is dimmer (dusk, dawn, etc.) they won't do it. At night with IR, it's hit and miss. The 2mp starlights do better in the low light and night situations. If you have the 2.8mm lens, I'd wonder if you can grab a plate at 15ft regardless of the lighting. Don't know that personally, but my guess is it wouldn't work.

Do you use the turret tiger?

I bought some 2231s but should have just gone with the 4431 in retrospect. Hopefully the 2231s do alright.

The 4431 would have been a terrible mistake. You dont want china hacked cameras.

All of my 4431 cameras are bullets, some 3.6mm, some 6mm, and some varifocal. Any time you've got less than bright daylight the 2231 will do better. The 2231 costs more, so it makes sense that it's a better camera.

What are these the cameras below best suited for?
The first 2 are 2MP but the 5231 just has better FPS?
With the 5831 being 8MP. Are there any 4MP Dahuas? I couldn't find any.
IPC-HDW2231R-ZS
IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
IPC-HDW5831R-ZE

I have a specific spot to put the camera in but it would probably be easier to what each camera is good for.

The 5231 is capable of faster FPS (50/60 vs 25/30), but IMO since most folks run at slower FPS (i.e. 15 FPS), both are fine. Some folks think a higher FPS is required to reduce motion blur, but it's exposure settings (typically shutter speed) that have the biggest influence on that -- not FPS.

Definitely take a few minutes to read through the 2231 review that @Walrus linked to above.
