Hi,

I currently have a Hikvision Doorbell which works great with Blue Iris but am wanting more :)

The Nest Hello is basically what I am after for one reason, I want the 8 Google Homes I have in my house to let me know when there is someone at the door but I also want to be able to record permanently on Blue Iris.

Has anyone achieved this, does such a possibility exist? If I could make my Hikvision notify my Google Home's I would be happy

It seems (as always with my luck) I can only have one or the other!

The Nest is cloud based only. If you can attach BI to the stream, remember you'll be sending up to the "wonderful" cloud then downloading it from that same "wonderful" cloud. The result... besides terrible lag, double bandwidth usage IF you can even get it into BI. Heaven, up there in the "wonderful" clouds, help you if you're on a metered ISP connection. Nest is cloud based crapolla. You're better off triggering Google Home, somehow, with BI from the Hikvision. How to do that is beyond my pay grade.

If you are into, or would consider getting into home automation I can recommend the software Home Assistant. Home Assistant I'm currently running it on the same machine as Blue Iris. With that setup you can have your google Homes play a message when the camera is triggerd in BI or even stream video to a Google Display or Chromecast.

I have a Nest Hello as well as two Nest Outdoor cams that I use in BI that work very well. While I don't have a Google Home, I also use my Nest cams with Sentry AI, which is integrated into BI. Surprisingly, I get people alerts from BI/Sentry about 5 seconds before I receive the people alert from Nest. I am definitely not happy that Google is doing away with the Works with Nest program though. One feature that I'd like to see from Nest is the ability to change the alert or have Nest/IFTTT call when the doorbell is rang. This is clearly not going to happen now that Works with Nest is being retired.

Hi! I'm wondering how hard it is to get Home Assistant set up on Windows 10 blue iris server PC as you mentioned you have done?

I second Hone Assistant, it is awesome. I use it to announce when someone is at my front door through my echo devices. I use Blue Iris with Sentry to trigger a MQTT topic to Home Assistant when a person is detected in a zone on my front porch. Home Assistant runs on a Linux OS natively, so not sure how well it will work on Windows. What I did was run Home Assistant as a VM in VMWare Workstation on my Blue Iris machine.

The closest I have come is with the EZViz DB1/RCA/LaView/Nelly versions. At least with the EZ Viz app, I can connect it to my google home device. Only downside is it is a manual process. For example, if I hear the doorbell ring, I have to ask "hey google, show me the front door." I have also heard this model works with blue iris..

Hello Ulfson! :)

What event is fired in Home Assistant when the doorbell triggers on button press and/or PIR sensor?

I have a zone set up in blue iris for my nest hello to only trigger when someone is at my front door. I then use home assistant to announce that someone is at the front door through my echo devices. I’m not sure if blue iris has a way of differentiate a motion event from a doorbell ring, but if so you could go that route. I’m not sure of a way to have the google home display doorbell cam without being prompted, but the announcement should be able to be handled via Home Assistant. You could also look for a sensor that connects to your doorbell chime that alerts Home Assistant when the doorbell is pressed.
