I have a couple that were indoor units for less than 250 but now everything is around 600 to 750 and up what gives?

Demand

Nest & Ring - brought up demand for cameras in general
> Flow on effect to POE cameras

Prices go up to take advantage of customers

There are plenty of indoor/outdoor ptz cameras for 250. Cameras have become cheaper not more expensive.

link to vendors that support this site with hikvision cameras
if you are going to limit yourself to one vendor and one brand you are going to have problems. Though nellys has a ptz with no ir for 209.
Dahua has the mini 203 ptz with starlight and IR for 180.
You are probably better off with a fixed camera.

I use the mini pzt to chase my dog around the living room when I am not home

I just recently purchased and installed the new DS-2DE4A225IW-DE. B&H is selling it for $499.99 but I purchased it through my Hik dealer for $400.00 shipped. Love the camera and impressed with the results

Just received a Loryta SD22204UE-GN 4X PTZ from Andy. Cost via Amazon is $165.00. I does not have IR, but it is a Starlight rated camera. In the next week, I should have it up and operational with an evaluation of how well it functions in an outside environment. This camera should work very well inside in color mode.

There is an IR version of the same camera.

nice looking camera I just don't like the reflection on the dome when the IR is on
The camera in the video will not have the IR reflection issues because the IR is external to the dome.

Review-Dahua SD1A203T-GN Starlight Mini PTZ
The Ir is outside of the dome so you dont get the reflection and you can turn it off.
Yes, I did consider that model but in the end the mounting options, a little less zoom caused it to not be ideal for my situation. I do have external IR in the area where the camera is going, and to be honest, until manufacturers learn to use multiple LED's to partially/totally eliminate the hotspot issue, I won't be going with the 1/2 LED cams. That, and the very limited mounting options for the SD1A203T-GN cam are enough to steer me away. I do appreciate the time for suggesting it, though. Thanks.

For the same price, I’d go with the Hik.

Better lens, no dome distortion.
4mp vs 2mp.
4x vs 3x
The Dahua is a hair better in low light.
Image overall is better on the Hik

So, has anyone really determined if the Hikvision is really better than the Dahua? I like the looks of the Hikvision better but I want better night vision.
