Hi everyone

I'm new to this forum and ip cams in general. Ive just started to setup my system, starting small and building up my arsenal of cameras as I go. I have a relatively low budget and was wondering what you guys thought about cheap ptz cameras.

Ive found a relatively inexpensive model going under the name Secuplug+ on my local amazon (Im in Australia) but i cant seem to find any reviews on that particular model. Here's the link

Im also open to suggestions if there are any that would be better

Thanks

Avoid that crap. You likely dont need a ptz at all, you are not going to sit there manning it 24/7.

The camera you link to is indeed incredibly cheap for the spec. If Amazon are as flexible there in Australia, then you do not have much to lose if you get it, and just see how you get on. If it is rubbish or doesn’t work properly, then just send it back?

To be honest, at that price bracket, you are going to be limited to no name/unknown brands, so it is going to be a bit of a leap of faith. You also probably need to accept that reliability is going to be a complete unknown. I bought a PTZ camera from China on eBay a few years back...the picture quality was really surprisingly good, but it broke once under warranty period, and again after about 2.5 years which was then a ‘throw it away’ case.

Obviously your only other choice is to go for a lower spec which has reviews, or wait a bit and save up for something more pricey that might be a better/established brand.

Wyze cams are solid! They are supported well and have a customer forum. I have 3 which are over a year old. I also have some sons who have a few each which I can access with my iphone. Now they just came out with an accessory pack of door sensors and a motion sensor which just plugs into one of there cameras. Plus no forced cloud storage.
