New to the the concept and after my parent's car was vandalized i bought a Xiaomi security camera 360 only to later realize it was a glorified baby monitor that can only stream feeds to a mobile device.

Is there a way to connect it to desktop capture on a ip cam viewer like smartview etc?

Without knowing anything about the camera it's hard to say - but a simple first check is to see what listening ports / services the camera presents by using Nmap (Windows/ Linux) or Fing (Android) against the camera IP address.
RTSP on port 554 would be a good start.

+1^^.

FWIW, Fing is also available for iOS, I use it frequently. If & when you find that IP and/or RTSP port, you might also download VLC and try the following as a "network stream":
Code:
rtsp://camera-IP/RTSP-port/live/ch00_0

rtsp://camera-IP/RTSP-port/ch0.h264

rtsp://camera-IP/RTSP-port/ch0_0.h264

Not so sure about that but I can state only my personal experience.
My Dahua cams and Amcrest (re-branded Dahua) cams provide RTSP streams via port 554, as does my IPCT-HDW5431RE-I 2MP turret (a re-branded Hikvision).
Just about any cam that is, in fact, ONVIF compliant should provide RTSP as well.

As far as viewers go, on a PC it's hard to beat VLC for configurability and reliability.
For a smartphone or tablet (at least for iOS), I've had good luck with IP Cam Viewer and LiveCams Pro.
On my Sony Bravia smart TV (Android), I use TinyCam Pro. Many happy users on IPCT and it has its own forum.

I'm certain there are many more decent viewers out there.
