What can I do to clean this up for future incidents. It is so blurry it is not worth the money paid for the camera system etc. I am sure I have done something wrong, but what can I do to get better images of people riding through the neighborhood kicking peoples mailboxes over?

Increasing the shutter speed will help reduce blur. I think the default is 1/25s (or 1/30s). You can double or quadruple that. The downside is that with faster shutter speeds, the camera has less chance to collect light, so it will darken the image.

In your first video, even if it wasn't blurry, unless you knew the person, it would likely be hard to identify them. To ID someone, the recommended pixel density (PPF) is 100 PPF. Use the IPVM Camera Calculator V3 tool to get an idea of what your current PPF value is.... Type in your address, add a camera to the Google Maps picture of your house, change the camera model to what you use (5231), position the camera on the outside of your house, then drag the little guy out to the street... the website will show you what the PPF is. It will also let you simulate how the PPF increases if you zoom the camera in more.

For your second video, mounting the camera to where the awning is 70% of the picture makes the current view from this camera not useful. Maybe this camera can be pointed at (and zoomed all the way in on) the mailboxes (which might take the awning and tree out of the shot). Even then, it might not get you a PPF of 100.

Thank you to everyone for the info. I will work to see what I can do to make it better. Is there a better suggested camera than the ones I have?

Agree with all of the above

Also, add More IR. And if you really want facial ID at 35ft or so, you'll need a camera zoomed in more to that area.

If you for sure knew you wanted to dedicate a camera focused on the mailboxes, there are some 5231 bullets have have higher zoom capabilities (and brighter IR) that might help.

I'd play with the cameras you have first so you get a feel for zoom affects PPF (and how faster shutter speed can help reduce blur).
