It was only a matter of time - I see that Dahua's consumer brand IMOU is releasing a new 100% wire-free camera -
Looks really good. Will be interesting to see how this performs.

I have a Reolink Argus 2 with solar panel installed above my vegetable garden and it works fairly well.

My reference to "looks really good" was very much around the looks. The specs look to be in-line with the other wire-free cameras on the market and agree that it doesn't compare to the wired equivalents. I have a few of the Dahua POE bullets which perform great. An add-on like this for areas I cannot run POE would be useful.

I've used the Arlo's before and yes there are limitations with the battery powered approach. Will be interesting to see the uptake.

I’m sorry but I’m not putting the security and safety of my family and home in the hands of ANY WiFi camera period.

Battery powered cameras by default suck and cannot be used with traditional nvrs. Because they turn on only when motion is detected by the internal PIR sensor lots of pre trigger and post trigger motion are missed. You can always run Poe. Always.

Wireless cameras may have a place in home security in areas where cables cannot be laid easily, but wireless will always be pretty bad and if you are relying on battery, what is said above is very relevant. You will miss events and that pre-trigger and post trigger recording can be important when determining if something happened.
That said, with reference to @ThomasPl , Security Cameras capture events and the footage is AFTER the event. They do not add safety or security, other than a deterrent for opportunistic crimes, so any camera, even a dummy, would add that level of extra security.
Go on functionality over physical looks though. Camera's are not a fashion statement. They are a functional device. All WiFi will be "Crap" compared to wired, but if you cannot get power or run wires due to physical restrictions, WiFi is better than nothing and the IMOU ones do seem to be higher up than most other WiFi cameras.

With all that said, give me an IMOU WiFi camera rather than a Reolink wired camera anytime......
