I was thinking about ordering a Dahua IPC-HFW5831E-ZE bullet camera (see link below).

IPC-HFW5831E-ZE

I just want to confirm its compatible with my current Lorex 4K NVR model LNR6163W (see link below). Also what are your thoughts of this camera? I currently have a total of 10 indoor / outdoor cameras and I want to upgrade one of my older outdoor Lorex 4K cameras to this Dahua. Thank you.

Hi @jd415

iirc that appears to be a Dahua OEM NVR. Which cameras came with your kit? ( easier for me to confirm )

[ remember: IVS features are typically dropped in the Lorex NVRs and Cameras, and you may need to do some user / password, IP, port configuration to sync the cameras to the appropriate NVR channel ]

Thanks for your reply! I didnt buy a kit, I but the NVR and all 10 cameras separately about 2 years ago.

I know Dahua makes Lorex cameras and now they own them too. Besides some of the IVS features do you think this camera will work with my NVR? As long as they are both ONVIF is that correct? Thank you again.

Hi @jd415

ONVIF comformance typically on the base line only means you can do basic recording. They have expanded various ONVIF profiles to cover more. As there are various versions of ONVIF and you'd need to check both the specs and see what the claimed profiles are supported on the NVR as well as the cameras. Conformance Process - ONVIF

For the NVR - if it is a Dahua OEM NVR ( which I suspect it is due to what I see in the picture, as it does look like my Dahua OEM NVR - you can confirm it yourself if the GUI looks like the Dahua GUI on the On Screen Display ) then it can use the Dahua API to talk to Dahua OEM cameras. ( you can think of this as the "native language" of the NVR and Cameras )

If you want to take a screen shot of a few of the OSD config screens that would be helpful.

Also do look at the thread referenced above by Andy.

Matt200, thanks again for helping me.

I did a google image search of "Dahua OSD" and "Dahua GUI" and it looks exactly like my GUI. Also I installed Dahua SmartPSS application on my PC and it works perfectly with my Lorex NVR and all 10 Lorex cameras. I'm just worried if I try to add the Dahua IPC-HFW5831E-ZE bullet camera I might have issues?

Yes I did read the thread Andy mentioned.

What do you think of the Dahua IPC-HFW5831E-ZE camera? I need a camera with a really wide angle, decent night viewing and great quality during the day. I really want to get the Lorex LNB9272 since it also has a built in microphone but the black color of the camera is really ugly :)

HI @jd415

Good news, it sounds like you have a Dahua OEM NVR which Lorex has rebranded. This means the Dahua OEM cameras can use the Dahua API to communicate with the NVR. Should just take some configuration adjustments ( user/password, IP, port config and sync between the camera and NVR channel ) and it will work well once you get everything configured appropriately.

I like the Dahua 5xxx series of cameras due to their varifocal function which allows you to customize the FOV to produce the results you want.

The Lorex model you mentioned LNB9272 is closer to the Dahua OEM IPC-HFW18xx model. There should be a good review on that model ( IPC-HFW18xx ) here on ipcamtalk iirc.

There also is a varifocal version of the camera, Dahua OEM IPC-HFW28xx - which I also believe someone may have some reviews here.

All are decent cameras and worth considering imho. I know a lot of members here value low light capability over daytime and go with the Dahua oem 2MP starlights - and probably soon the 4MP starlight+ models which just came out.

Any of these Dahua OEM cameras should work well with that NVR once you've synced the info for the NVR channel and camera.

When deciding what to get, look at the reviews here. Look at the sensor and f stop in the specs.
