Playback, especially IVS, has been unstable/inconsistent to me. Sometimes it works fine, then the next event is skipped, etc. Only normal playback seems to work all the time.
Strange, with me, smart recording playback does work (never saw it working).

Push on ipad still doesn't work. I've checked everything I can think of and it doesn't work. I see on the main menu there's a login. Is that only needed for the cloud? Why do you need to log in? That's the only thing I haven't done, nor have I set up an account for log in.

App is updated again: V4.41.001
Live viewing is still not 100% working. Yesterday it seemed to work well, today when i start the app (IOS), it shows just some of the available cams or it just crashes.

I recently purchased and installed some Dahua equipment for a friend from Andy and although this harware works nicely, it's a bit difficult to explain that the app used to work ok, but at the moment it doesn't. How do you explain this to customers when you'd have a business installing Dahua stuff that relies on the app for checking cams...?

Luckily I'm still on 4.31.002 (thanks to you guys) but I was hoping by now that this would have been resolved.

I am using evohd on my iPad, thanks for the tip. It works well for playback. I can’t get iDMSS to playback events the way it should so except for live view iDMSS is useless until they fix it. I haven’t tried alerts yet and I haven’t tried evoplus on my phone yet either.

And... we're now at V4.50.000 (iDMSS - IOS).
Only when I go to NVR settings and then to Start Live Mode, I always see all available cams. Going to favorite cams right after starting the app, is still unsuccessful for me most of the time.

I’m sure you’ve done this already but have you deleted and re-added favorites since the new version? Just thinking out loud here...

Thanks, yes I did. I even removed the app and re-installed it. Works fine, until you stop it and start it again. Then sometimes everything works, but most of the time only a few cams are displayed correctly. Most cams show a Connection Failed message. Frustrating to see that they are working actively on new features, while very basic functionality still sucks.

the new 4.50 version still has issues. Motion Playback is screwed, any given time I open it, its a crapshoot as to how many cams load.

V4.60.001 (released yesterday/today) still doesn't work for me. Cams stay black most of the time. Didn't even try the other features.
Evocam got an update as well and has also become useless. Still wondering if this has anything to do with my NVR that might be a CN model...
Another NVR that I set up for a friend comes from Andy and this one does work with the app. But that one is still on P2P with only one cam connected, so not sure if this has something to do with it.

iDMSS Lite (V3.53.000) hasn't been updated for some time and still works.

My @EMPIRETECANDY-native NVR does still work with the latest iDMSS, only thing (with the new NVR firmware) is that the app now forces a "preview" screencap with options "playback, preview, cancel". Never had that before, but playback, triggers, events, it all works fine.

@catcamstar Your post encouraged me to spend some more time on this issue. Tried lots of things (including re-installing the app), but finally I found the solution. If anybody runs into the same issue, here's how it works.

In the NVR is a setting 'Maximum connection' (Network -> Connections). The value was 5. I've changed it to 128, the max. (Probably a much lower setting will work as well).

I don't know how the updated iDMSS app works, but it seems that it logs into the NVR multiple times, probably for every cam (and every time) that is displayed. This would explain why I could see cams initially when I started the app, but when scrolling forward and back to other cams, it failed. Restarting the app triggered the "Maximum connections reached" error. The old iDMSS app apparently worked differently, because it used to work great.

Playback seems to work too, although I'm still confused what to choose. I use IVS on all my cams and I would assume that this would be shown under "Motion detect", but it always tells me there's nothing recorded. Under " Normal", I can see markers when IVS was activated, so this kinda works.

@Bramboo that does seem to work. Sloppy software is making a ton of connections. Thanks

But when you guys say Playback works.. are you saying simply that you can choose to playback, set a time, choose motion or all or whatever and it plays back?
Sure mine does that, but try selecting just motion events.

The way it used to work was that when you selected just motion events to playback, it would start at the first event (orange bars only displaying in the timeline) and skip automatically directly to the next event an so on. You could also "bump" or manually nudge the timeline and jump directly to the next event. It skipped all non-event recording. Made it very easy to quickly scan just motion events.

Now, it does not automatically jump to the next event (even though they are displayed with the orange markers) but instead plays the entire recording. It no longer "locks" to each event so you cant easily view just events anymore.

I wonder why the connections defaulted to 5 on your newer firmware. I just checked my NVR firmware 3.215.0000000.3, Build Date: 2017-12-11 and under Network ----> Port (I don't have Connections) it shows 128 as default already.

@TechBill Thanks & no problem, hopefully it saves some time and frustration in the future if people find this thread.

@bigredfish That's exactly what I'm experiencing as well. I just don't know how this is supposed to work. The way you decribe it, is how I remember it once worked in the previous releases. Although it was not always consistent and the app used to crash sometimes when I'd try to play back IVS, I was quite happy with it. "Smart recording" is also something that sounds great, but I don't know yet what it's supposed to do.
To be honest, I haven't spend much time on play back or trying to find some manual, so maybe it's not as bad as I think. I'd assume though that this is a major feature in any surveillance app, so it should work easy and perfectly...

@toolazyforalogin No sure either. Maybe it was 128 by default, maybe not. Or maybe I changed it because of security reasons, because 128 connections sound rediculous to me (if these are individual logins/users).
