Hey Guys, got an odd situation for you. We are looking for cameras for monitoring a sporting event, so the requirements are a little odd and would appreciate some advice/help. Basically we need 4x cameras for the first phase, but possibly a number more. Based on testing so far, we think we need specs as follows:

All cameras should be capable of 30fps ideally, 25fps min and H264 or better.

Cam1:
Ideally
  • 3mp+ (greater than full HD ideally as it will be used for record reviews), even better if its 4mp+ so we can do a good high quality digital zoom where required.
  • 12mm or greater zoom that can be controlled remotely.
  • Bullet form factor highly preferred.
  • Min of dual stream, so we can feed a SD (or close to) feed to a decoder.
  • SD card slot.
  • Full external rated (IP67) as will be used around saltwater.
  • Will be used exclusively during daylight, so starlight / IR is irrelevant. Decent dynamic range is a bonus though.
  • Ideally a local analogue output for monitoring the video captured.
Cam2:
  • HD resolution.
  • Secondary stream of SD at 30FPS or close to.
  • Zoom of 32mm that can be controlled remotely.
  • Will be inside a waterproof housing, but not an issue if its an IP67 rated and format optional.
Cam3:
  • Major league zoom... say 200mm. Its got to display a 2.5m wide object taking up 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen at up to 200m range. We do have an existing camera we can push through an encode if necessary so this is certainly an optional camera.
  • Will also be inside a waterproof housing
  • Ideally HD.
So, any thoughts on these odd rqts? Happy to be contacted if you think you have product that would work too...

Oh, and if relevant, these will all be going through a ubiquiti network and running on battery, so passive POE is appreciated but not essential.

Hi @epyscs

You may want to review some of the nicer PTZ model for the camera which you need a higher zoom
