IPC-HDW5231R-ZE not sharp anymore, any ideas?

I have two IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and one of them seems to be hazy (not as sharp). They both are set to the same settings(camera/encode) and the lenses are clean in and out. What would cause this? You can see the difference between the two.

I have had various Dahua Cams get the haze effect, Clean the outside lens cover and you might have to take it apart and clean the lens cover from the Inside and clean the lens itself. Also. I have not had the need to take mine apart but I think their might be some info on this site someplace about people taking them apart for various reasons.

Just a idea, your camera might be focusing on a different area then the areas you want. like the roof support on the upper quarters of the images. One thing I've done is place a shooting target ( 2X3 feet black and white target sheet) on a piece of cardboard, place it where I want the camera to focus. Go back to the settings and hit auto focus button. Had one camera what kept focusing on a flower bed, instead of the doorway. entrance. seemed to help. Also, if the camera is fully zoomed out, there a well document issue of camera unable to focus clearly at over >80%

You guys were right, not sure why it was dirty on the inside, but images are sharper after cleaning inside the lens.

I have noticed it more on cams that face the south and get a lot of UV exposure, Also cams that are near florescent lighting. It could be a slight mold build up on the Lens and inside covers...who knows ..good to hear you are back in business.

You're right about the focus issue. I have 6 of these cameras and sometimes the focus in random places and not where I need them to. It would be really nice to be able to designate the area to focus before clicking auto-focus. I also have experienced the issue where a camera is zoomed almost all the way out and can't auto-focus.

Ideally, I would like to set focus and zoom for both Day/Night individually. Once done, find some way of scripting those setting each time the camera changes modes.

Its not just that model, Every Dahua VF i ever installed digital or analog needs the focus tweeked now and then. Nature of motorized lens.

Try the Dahua Sunrise/Sunset util. Has those options to set focus and zoom.
