Hi guys,

I recently got a 4 camera Dahua POE system installed. One the cameras was not properly hidden from the rain and water got in to the Poe connection. If I connect this one back in to the system it causes everything to turn off however if I remove it and connect the other three cameras the Nvr will turn on however I still cannot view any image on any cameras. I am only able to view previous footage before the system went dead? Are all of these cameras now fried or is it the connections at the back of the nvr?

Thanks in advance,

Lee

With apologies for the dumb question - did you re-connect them to the same ports they were originally connected to?

What shows on the link detect lights on the NVR PoE ports that the cameras are connected to?

Hi,

Apologies for the delay. Yes I have tried connecting them to the same and also different ports but nothing happens. There are no lights present at all on the Nvr Poe ports! Is this bad?

Can an external POE switch be used instead? Sorry don’t know the answer but it might be worth considering but you’d need 1 port to act as the uplink port so it might be worth testing the ports by connecting a non POE device to see if the NVR detects anything on the ports.

replace the connector, there are guides here with the dahua pinout. Test again, sometimes the poe module in the camera is also fried, but its easy to try.

Like what @fenderman said, but from my experience I've visited about 7 instances whereby people haven't waterproofed connectors correctly and everyone the POE module had blow in the camera so external power was needed.
I never understand why weatherproofing seems to be a after thought with a lot of installs :banghead:
