I've had this camera from Andy for about a month now and can confirm it is very good at night. It does not even switch to b/w mode with only one street lamp.
Very impressed with night quality.
Daylight footage sometimes struggles with overexposure though.
Also the moving objects are jerky (compared to IPC-HFW1831E model I can only compare against)

30 FPS, H265, 8Mbit, I think all other settings are default

is the live view jerky or just the recording, what are you viewing on and what is the settings of the IPC-HFW1831E

As vision asked I wonder if it’s just liveview. What type of device are you playing it back on. 8mbs of 4mp h265 might be to much for the playback device. I run some of mine at the same settings but h264 and have no problem on my laptop, iPad or iPhone XS with it being jerky. Thanks

Recordings. I view it using MPC-HC player, and also in Smart PSS on my computer (which is fast)

I now compared again and see IPC-HFW1831E is also not completely smooth. Still better than 5442 though.

I can upload samples somewhere if you want to compare

Something is wrong with the Liveview in the browser

you have hardware decode support but I wonder if its being used.

I found this info from 2017 so may no longer be valid but "
Browser Video: Codecs, Formats & Hardware Acceleration
MP4 containers with H.265 video (HEVC), on the other hand, are only supported in Edge and Internet Explorer, and only on devices that can decode H.265 in hardware. The reason is simple: Edge and IE do not decode H.265 by themselves, so Microsoft does not have to pay licensing fees. Edge/IE pass the video stream for decoding to the OS which in turn sends it to the GPU. Licensing costs are paid by the GPU vendor."

Im curious how liveview behaves in internet explorer or edge.

Edge is the same as chrome
Internet explorer does not work (asks to install a plugin which I dont want to install) but it shows extra buttons which are not displayed in chrome!

I circled controls which are not shown in other browsers. I wonder why

Also noticed that if I export a video to MP4 using SmartPSS it plays smoothly.
But exported video is a few seconds less the original and some footage is lost.

Compare the two:
Notice the difference between how cars are moving

Original .dav file:

Exported .MP4 from Smart PSS
some footage in the beginning is cut

@zape
Your DAV file has every 5th frame doubled. These are not dropped frames but added ones. That's why files do not match in duration. Try setting the camera to 25fps and compare again.

Do you run your cameras in 25 fps? I will try but don't want to lose 5 fps. I expect it to work up to specifications.

In Europe we have PAL video standard which is 25fps. Everything above 24fps should appear to your eyes as smooth motion. So both PAL and NTSC apply to this rule :)

So do you suggest me to switch camera to PAL mode or leave it in NTSC but lower the FPS from 30 to 25?
