Hi all,

I am looking at installing some turret cameras at the front of my house. Similar to Dahua DH-IPC-HDW4831EMP-ASE

As I am considering mounting a camera on either side of my garage, I am thinking I should make them as inconspicuous as possible other the first impression of my house is going to be like Fort Knox! I know some people want to deliberately show the world they have CCTV, but for my purpose i don't think I need that kind of message yet.

I see that on ebay there are same silicone skins that you can get for the Arlo in different colours. Is there something similar out there for the turrets? If nothing exists, would painting the cameras be a terrible idea?

Appreciate your valuable thoughts and feedback!

I sorta like the idea of camouflage.
But what about mounting something above the camera. And then people will look at it and say what the heli is that. In turn you will have a good image of their face.

Wouldn’t silicone skin discolour because it’ll be subjected to the outside elements? I know the skins I use to protect the phones in our house discolour and look rubbish within 6 or so months.

Hi @rzkman

I just painted the case of the dahua mini-dome camera I have to match the trim / walls.

Works very well. Spray primer - then outside latex based paint. If it scratches, I just touch up with some more paint. ( local hardware store has small can sizes available for color sample testing.. )
