Hi, I have a Dlink DIR 882 router which I've set up for quickVPN (L2TP over IPSec) and set up quickVPN on the same PC. What I'm having problems and confusion with is connecting from the outside using the Blue Iris app I installed if this is even the right way. What I've done so far:

Router - QuickVPN setup and running.
PC running Blue Iris - QuickVPN set up and running with shared key from router, connected.
Set up user in blue iris setting with admin/remote management.

Blue iris app will not connect with wan/lan/user settings.

Set up VPN connection on my android phone and it connects...... attempted again to use blue iris app and failure to connect to anything. It says unable to connect. Please try again. Reason: Unable to reach server.

Any ideas? Do I even need the blue iris app to view cameras?

you need to enter your LAN ip address in both the wan and lan boxes.

Thanks for the reply, I entered the LAN address in both WAN/LAN as suggested and am still unable to connect. Is it possible the standard VPN software with my Galaxy s8+ is not worth using? It creates a connection according to network analyzer but I'm baffled as to why I'm unable to access Blue Iris via the app. I can login to the router just fine through a browser on my phone however.

To add to the problem, I just connected to wifi and the app works fine, just not on cellular externally.

You betcha, :81 after the Blue Iris server IP address.... Should I try a different port? I find it odd that it works on Wifi but not via VPN. On the VPN I can access my router login though, so that really makes me wonder. Hopefully something small I'm missing.

Just as an update: I used my wife's iPhone just to see if i would have better luck. Same thing, can login to the vpn and can login to the routers configuration page with safari as a test, but cannot access Blue Iris via in Safari at 192.168.1.251:8080 address or port 81 when configured that way. I didn't want to buy the Blue Iris app a 2nd time for her phone if I'm not going to get this working.

May not be important but the Blue Iris app doesn't update the proper port when I use "get ips" it just goes to the standard :81 if that is meaningful... The only way I can view cameras is on Wifi.

The blue iris app works fine, you have an incorrect setting. You should not be using "get ips" that section should be blank.
