Yes naked, it was good quality outdoor direct burial wire. But some water tight pvc conduit wouldn’t hurt.

This jobsite was sandy loam soil so i don’t see it being a problem. Telephone, cable, fibre optics get buried every day across peoples yards.

Yes, they do.

In 2006 I took several pictures of where my gas lines were run from the propane tank to both sides of the house, marked them up with measurements, etc., using Paint Shop Pro 5 and archived them.
Came in VERY handy 3 years later when I had the dog's area fenced in with chain link, posts, etc. as one of the posts needed to be right where I recalled the line was at the house corner.

I took MORE photos in 2015 when I had to find the lids to the septic tank so it could be pumped out at year #9. Two trees made great landmarks and the marked up photos will minimize digging to locate the lid, should it need pumping out again in the future.

FWIW, that was such a PITA and expense I got more proactive in keeping the septic system "healthy".... nothing but septic-approved toilet paper is flushed, no more liquid fabric softener in the washing machine and I flush a box of Rid-X every odd-numbered month down the toilet (fingers crossed). :idk:

There's been a sort of development come re-think on my part. I'm hoping that by asking this further question, others who use the forum, may benefit...even if the idea is a non-starter at least they'll know why!

Wi-fi throughout my house isn't great so I've just purchased a 3 pack set of tp-link deco m5 mesh wi-fi. I can currently get Wi-Fi from my house to my remote office as it's not that far away using my current stock router. The deco M5 should improve matters if i place the units carefully, and one would be located in my remote office, right next to where I want to site the cam facing my house! The deco M5 has two ethernet ports as each unit.

Ignoring the necessary weather-proofing of cables and connections etc (I do know that this is really important), could I hook up the cam to the deco M5 unit in my remote office via Cat5e extrenal cable. Would I need a POE injector...I'm guessing I would? If so where in the daisy chain would this sit?

However the cam has the facility for powering it via 12V power adaptor, so it doesn't actually need POE. Could I power the cam with a suitable power adaptor, then link the cam to the deco M5 via Cat5e?

Sorry if this thread is becoming a little tedious, I'm really new to CCTV. As always, I appreciate the time everyone takes to reply and remain grateful.

p.s. if anyone ever needs to know about chocolate, that's an entirely different matter :)

Yes, you can power the cam either with a 12 volt adapter (0.5A should be enough for most cameras), or with an 802.3af PoE injector, and connect to your wifi access point via Cat5e.

Expect a reduction in your wifi network capacity, as you will be streaming the camera video over your normal wifi network, possibly even retransmitting the video once before it reaches the NVR. If this causes trouble and you need better performance, you can still add the ubiquiti bridge later.
