Looking at a best value dual camera. Dashcamtalk.com is a good place for reviews.

I’ve had luck with 2 cars, each with a Lukas Black Box. They work very well and capture clear video. Each is directly wired to the battery of my car so I can use parking mode, but will cut off either after a given time, or when my battery voltage drops below a given value.

Having recommended Viofo previously, my latest Viofo died recently. That's 2 now that have each died after only approx 12 months. I think I'd probably have to redact my recommendation of Viofo in favour of another camera brand now as although picture wise they're good, I don't personally regard 12 months or so as a long life. Mine just started to enter a constant reboot cycle then died. My other camera is a Mobius Maxi and so far this has an image as good as if not better than the Viofo's I've had and seems better built. If you need a screen a camera such as one of the Street Guardians should be a good choice.

Using a DOD LSW430W for over 4 yeas now. Captures clear quality video, day and night, integrated GPS. Still happy with it.

I am running an eSky dual but only using the front cam. I got this one for the stealth install with the main control and recording unit in the glove box, just the small cam visible.

I've been using a Nextbase 512 here in the UK for coming up on 3 years now

Suction cup install behind & just below the rear view mirror. It autostarts and after 3 mins displays a VERY useful GPS speedometer

just replaced my 0806 old one with Rove R2-4K Car Dash Cam - my new 128G card just filled after 3 weeks even though i set it up as 4K loop-cycle - it seems like a fairly good straight forward to use unit. Video quality seems fine, did get some side glare of windshield based on suction cup location limitations as to distance of lens from the windshield glass. Wifi setup was easy, but i have not used it for any data downloads. for the price i am much happier than my older mini 0806.

I'm surprised you got 3 weeks at 4K although it depends on how long you drive for each day. It really shouldn't be an issue though as loop recording will ensure anything is captured. Only real effect is card lifespan, but it's better to have good footage and a few weeks less on the card than poorer quality footage when it's needed.

For windshield glare, try a dashmat.

Does anyone have experience with or recommendations for a motorcycle specific dash cam? Looking for bike mounted wired in, not helmet mounted.

There's not much in the way of decent video quality, wired in, discreet, IP rated cameras that are reasonably priced. You could look at some of the regular cctv bullet style cameras that have a SD card recording in them, assuming you'd only want to view the footage in case of an incident. Then you wouldn't need a separate DVR module. Have a look in the Dahua forum. Assuming you could mount the camera behind a plastic panel, you'd only need a 20mm hole for the lense.

Im using Eyecam SV88. They have military-grade outdoor camera, adjustable for side, front or rear views, high-resolution 1/3” CCD, night vision up to 65ft and vandal-proof IP69 enclosed design. Use about a year and very satisfied.

Although I've seen a nightime video that looked good, the car was being driven very slowly. CCTV cameras generally don't seem to work well for mobile use. The issue is often bit rate. Bit rates can be low on CCTV because very little changes from frame to frame. In moving vehicles, everything in the frame is changing constantly. A typical CCTV camera uses around 8-10mbs bit rate whereas many dashcams are these days around the 20mbs range with the better quality ones using as high as 60mbs or more. So what you might gain in a better lens etc, you lose in the encoding.

There are motorcycle specific dash cameras out there. I would suggest they are probably the way to go.

I'm sure there are others sites, although when looking, there were a lot of review sites from either brand sellers or Amazon shops who were clearly rating their own brands. For obvious reasons, I tend to lean towards review sites which are independent and don't sell the brands they're reviewing.

Other sources are videos on Youtube although I'd stick to user videos from independent posters to ensure the video you see is a true reflection of what you can expect and not enhanced.

I currently have an older Street Guardian SG9665GC V1. It's been running for many years without problems. It's only fault is the dog-gone really tiny view screen.

Lately, I've gotta itch to pick up a rear-view mirror cam. The 10" wide screen really appeals to me. I don't know why the producers of these cams aren't using capacitors instead of batteries. And ..... I really don't understand why the producers of these cameras are not using the best cameras available. I wish Street Guardian would make a rear view mirror dash cam ......

Every so often Aukey has their dash cams on sale. They always stress on Sony's IMX291 sensor; although not sure how good the night quality is. Lots of paid reviews, be careful

I'm using the Aukey DR02 with GPS in both my vehicles. Both are hardwired using a Nextbase kit. Using 128GB cards. Had a problem with one camera (display) and replaced by the supplier without any fuss.

Hardwired a Rexing V1 into my DD about a month ago. Been working just fine and the recordings seem to fit the bill. It's a cheapie $100 unit from Amazon.
