I think I need some help with zones and re-triggering, been reading the help files but don't understand how I can achieve what I'm after.

I've got a cam set up with 2 zones, zone A is entire picture and zone B is my driveway. Within Motion sensor -> Object detection I have A-B set, so I want to trigger when an object moves from zone A to B and vice versa. This seems to work fine except that I do need to fine tune things like Object size and Object travels.

When an object is moving around zone B I'd also like the cam to trigger. What is it the best way of doing this? Is it simply a case of changing Object detection to A-B, B or is there a better way of doing this? It does also occur to me that I could maybe simply set it to B to detect any motion on the driveway but am unsure as to the best way of doing this so any help and tips would be greatly appreciated.

It'd be helpful if you posted a screenshot and desired outcome, but based upon your description, it sounds as if your rule "A-B, B" would work just fine if you always want the motion detector to trigger when objects enter zone B and also when an object moves from zone B to A or A to B. You can enable or disable alerts for individual zones on the cam properties alerts tab.

Clone the camera, then setup just the area on the drive you want to have trigger in the cloned cam.

This is what I ended up doing. Another reason for wanting to do this is that some events weren’t triggering a recording so I am trying to determine what might be going on.

Object size and travel sometimes do make a difference....start by unchecking both and rerunning the video if you have it through the motion detector test. Then add them back one by one to see which is the problem. Could be other factors such as zone size, etc. I elaborated the same info to another member recently: Alerts Unreliable

That's not how you use zones. If you have zone A as the entire picture, and zone B just your driveway, with object detection as A-B, it is effectively already doing what you are looking for. Any time there is motion in B, it should trigger, since there is already motion in zone A which is the entire picture.

It would help if you posted a picture, but let's assume you have a sidewalk, boulevard, and road in front of your house like I do. Zone A is the road, boulevard and sidewalk. Zone B is the driveway. I have a 3 pixel gap between the zones. Zone G is the entire picture. Then I set object detection to A-B. This means any motion from A to B or B to A will trigger. Zone G ensures objects are tracked through the dead space between the zones, and the dead space cuts down on false triggers from shadows/trees. But in your case you would make it A-B, B.
