Hi all,

Firstly the camera's in question and the firmware:
  • Camera: DS-2CD2T45FWD
  • Firmware: V5.6.2 build 190701
I have been trying to setup FTP for saving the snapshots at a snapshot schedule I have set. There are two things I have noticed

  1. Made 100% sure that the user and pass was correct for the ftp server used WinSCP with the same user and pass and can login with no issue. Can read, write etc I have checked the permissions on the FTP server
    1. The error message I keep getting is Username or Password is incorrect. Trust me I tried this retyped it, copied and pasted it 6 times. I can see on the FTP servers log that it is trying to connect but getting an unauthorized error.
  2. I have tried FTP and SFTP as both are setup on the FTP server. Checked ports to.
  3. In the FTP options and I could just be dumb but I don't seem to see a folder selection where I can specify the actual directory for the snapshots i.e. /mycamera/camera2/
    1. I have tried <ip_address>/folder/child_folder
      1. Domain name wrong (don't think you allowed to specify it in the format above)
Just can't seem to find these two things out...

Would appreciate the guidance.

Is the FTP server set up to use Active or Passive mode? Can you switch it and test?
Are you using special characters in the password / maybe try a simple password.

thank you for your replay (as always)

  1. Not sure about active or passive will check I am almost sure its active at the moment
  2. The password is highly complex as are all my other passwords so aZ01_!]{} type characters in them.

I will create a simple user and password and try that out as well as trying the switch between modes. I really hope either way one can do this the most secure way possible. At least they do allow SFTP.

I have FTP working from my Hikvision cameras to a PC running Windows 7 no issues. Cannot get my Dahua to connect.

Here is a screen of my settings
