Thanks everybody for the great assistance so far. All my hardware including camera is arriving tomorrow, will be an exciting weekend!

I found out a friend works for a reseller and says he can get me some of these cameras since he has quite a few demo units lying around. Do you guys mind taking a look at the attached pdf to see how the specs compare with dahua? It looks like their 4MP specs are better than 2MP specs for lux ratings

Most of the cameras disclosed in that .pdf are rebranded cameras made by OEM's like Dahua and Hikvision, but seems like they're mainly intended for the average consumer (i.e. 1/3" Progressive CMOS Sensor, 1/2.8" Sony CMOS). Sony makes several different models of sensors and the specifics aren't disclosed in that specification sheet. I agree that the lux ratings appear better based on the numbers, but the 2mp Dahua Starlight cameras for the matter have been proven to deliver exceptional results and most rebranded stuff sold in the US-market are hardly on par with the models we actively discuss here; hardly any American-based companies are going to sell you a rebranded Dahua camera with Starlight and if they do, they would be selling them to you at a premium. I suggest looking through the models actively discussed here on the forum in the Dahua sub-forum.

Hi @dohat leku

PLEASE DO READ THE CLIFF NOTES!

The 4MP camera(s) ( you note in the PDF ) will NOT perform well in low light conditions, as Arjun points out:
4 mega-pixel, 1/3" Progressive CMOS

guys - my handman said he can move all the 3 holes down to 8ft height for only $100 and it'll only take him 90 mins. Based on my pics, do you think I should get that done - just looking to do it right first time around
Also, one of the 3 holes is for a camera overlooking the side yard (attached pic). I mainly put it in case someone tries to jump over this fence and this side yard has access to a basement window and a kitchen window. I do have my alarm motion sensors enabled at night in the basement. If you folks think this may not be needed, I can put two cameras side by side one for a general overview wide angle and another to catch license plates

Keep in mind that I have another camera on the other corner of the house too still looking at the front yard

If you're paying someone to do it, you might as well aim for 8ft height. Putting two cameras in the same location may be over-redundant. However, you can use the mounting point at the original height for an overview camera whereas using the 8ft for other purposes. That way you don't need to patch the original holes.
As per the picture, looks as if you have the camera(s) pointed to the backyard.

It would be a good idea to install a camera to see the sideyard as well. To get a good system going, it's wise to overlap the field of view to ensure that you all looking at all four sides of the property
