Hi,

Don't know if this has been mentioned but I just found out about the Unibiquiti Unifi USW-Flex switch:

Ubiquiti - UniFi® Switch Flex
https://dl.ubnt.com/datasheets/unifi/USW-Flex_DS.pdf

PoE input
Power Method (Port 1)
PoE Mode 1: 802.3af/at (Pins 1, 2+; 3, 6-)
PoE Mode 2: 802.3bt (Pins 1, 2+; 3, 6- and 4, 5+; 7, 8- )
PoE Mode 3: 50V/60W PoE Adapter3

PoE output (4x, Port 2-5)
Total PoE Power Budget
Powered by AF mode PSE: 8W
Powered by AT mode PSE: 20W
Powered by BT mode PSE: 46W
Powered by PoE Adapter: 46W
(Enabled in Controller)

This seems perfect if you want to connect multiple cams where you only have one Ethernet connection. I know there are other solutions but I think this is the first (affordable) that is powered through 802.3 standards (including 802.3bt !) and provides pass-through with 4 proper 802.3af ports.

I ordered two as it fits my requirements perfectly. I think I will be pairing it with a Ubiquiti US-16-150W (which will only power it with 802.3at but that's good enough for me).

Huh, I just noticed this on their site today too. If you don’t mind, would love to hear how it works for you!

Will grab one of these,
Cannot find many Aussie suppliers. Lot of website saying avail In stock on September 24, 2019.
Should be around $180 AUD /$US 100.

I think I will be pairing it with a Ubiquiti US-16-150W (which will only power it with 802.3at but that's good enough for me).
Have Dahua SD6AE240V-HNI that refuses to be powered by the US-8-150W. The USW-flex might solve this issue.
Only concern is the operating temperature range (max) is pretty standard. I might have to mount to rear of enclosure, rather than internally.
Looks good, thanks for the heads up on this.

Not sure the Uhppote is weatherproof. Interesting find. Good to see there are options out there.
I like the ubiquity gear. Ubiquity are replaced a 2yr+ mesh AP recently, so I'm a big fan. It was 18 months over 12 month warranty period, replaced no fuss.

@Walrus, if this is like UBNT's other switches it'll be manageable (i.e. can control power to individual ports, deactivate unused ports, etc from smartphone/web apps) plus it'll show you a bunch of port-level stats that can help give a lot of insight as to what's going on with the network (for folks looking for that extra level). Those extra things are probably overkill for most folks, but for folks with UBNT networks it's a neat add-on IMO!

The UHPPOTE 10/100M 4 Ports PoE Power Extender on amazon does the same thing for half the price, does it not?

No, that one is 100MB only, the Ubiquiti USW-Flex is Gigabit which is what I need (not for the cams but for something else that's going to get connected to it).

And as @aristobrat already mentioned, the USW-Flex is managed (Unifi controller) and supports VLAN which is also something I need. It also has a higher total power budget with the proper PSE.

I'm currently testing another option for this kind of situation which is what I was planning on using originally until suddenly this came up on my radar. I'll make a separate thread for that.

It's not readily available here (Western Europe) either. I managed to find a Czech online shop that actually has them in stock. I ordered two yesterday evening and they were shipped today, should be here on Friday.

Paid EUR 89 each (without VAT which I don't pay as I'm ordering this for and through my company) plus EUR 14,33 shipping from Czech Republic to the Netherlands.

I am currently using one of the cheaper Chinese models ($40) (http://amzn.com/B0198H6EUK) in a $10 weatherproof enclosure (http://amzn.com/B01LWZ2FOH) to feed three cameras. The UBNT solution looks much cleaner and more compact, but twice the price and likely less energy-efficient.

You mentioned that the USW-Flex is perfect for those looking to power multiple cameras from 1 ethernet run. I was responding to that, giving a cheaper option that is more than sufficient for that job. You didn't originally mention needing Gigabit and managed/VLANs.

I guess we can conclude that 'does the same thing' is open to interpretation.

Received my two USW_Flex's today. Haven't done anything other than hooking one up to one of my US8-60W's PoE ports and sure enough it powers up. That's about all I will have time for for now, too busy with the new home on other fronts.
