Search for Hikvision DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS

The model number is a little different than you have it.
I doubt you actually tried it... The search at Ali doesn't work well, for new items at least.

Anyway, I found it via google search Here it is in case anyone interested: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/DS-2CD2542FWD-IS-English-version-Hikvision-4MP-WDR-mini-dome-ip-camera-audio-alarm-10m-IR/1187561_32362872728.html

I still almost always use the bullets too - The domes are harder to hang the way I need to and generally faster and easier to mount and aim for my guys. I use the turret domes indoors and I like the turret domes where I really need good IR. As it is now I find the Hiks work well enough outdoors in my specific lighting scenarios that I now disable IR on all of the cameras when they are installed. I can still run at 1/30th just fine and I'll not attract spiders!

Now if only my analogs had no IR or IR I could disable lol!

The Dahua cams are more like 3.7 MP. But if they do as well as (or better than) the Hikvisions at low light and WDR then nobody is likely to care.

Well, I tried to order one of these 4MP turret cameras but the link you provided shows "item no longer available." I found another aliexpress dealer that offered one. But after I made my order, they contacted me saying "All 4MP products are out of stock now" -- and that it would take at least three weeks to get one ready for shipping. (Note: this is a different dealer than the one I had ordered the 4MP bullet camera from.)

So, it appears that the 4MP cameras are in high demand and/or short supply.

I ordered this yesterday: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/DS-2CD2542FWD-IS-English-version-Hikvision-4MP-WDR-mini-dome-ip-camera-audio-alarm-10m-IR/32362872728.html

Realised I had made a mistake ordering the "IS" suffix version instead of the "ISW" version that has WiFi, so I contacted them and upgraded without probs for $14. However they alerted me that the WiFi version would be out of stock till Aug 5 and asked whether I was OK with that before amending my order (which I was), so you're right that they seem to be in high demand and/or short supply.

The turret is available here: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/DS-2CD2342WD-I-English-version-Hikvision-WDR-EXIR-cctv-security-camera-4MP-30m-IR-Backlight-Compensation/1187561_32357341218.html and I think I will be getting one of those too. That new Dahua equivalent is cheap for sure but it seems to be 2-axis only and given that at least previously their products have been inferior to Hikvision's, especially in low-light conditions, perhaps a 2332 is still a better buy even at 3MP...?

The dahua turret design should be 3 axis despite the description...its a bad copy paste job...they have the same error with the eyeball camera...for low light, if the specs are accurate, the dahua will be far better than the 3mp 2332..

What do you mean about the error?
Since there is an error, how come the dahua is better than the HIK 2332?

I mean when they indicated only two axis of rotation.. A turret and eyeball rotate on three axis by design.. The lux rating is much better on the dahua...

I know that no one has a crystal ball, but what's the chance of the DS-2CD2342WD-I appearing on Amazon in the next couple months? Just trying to figure out if I should wait or bite the bullet on the turret (pun very much intended) now from aliexpress.

Either way it is most likely to come from a chinese vendor and in some cases shipping times will be the same. If you are ready to buy now I wouldn't wait. Get what you want and enjoy it :)

Very high, but let's be clear it is unlikely to be "sold by" amazon, but rather a third party, which means either it's US based and they charge a huge premium for that, or it's Chinese based in which case really what's the point (although Amazon will brow beat a seller if they don't respond to return requests quickly).

If you must have it now I'd either aliexpress or ebay, as ebay also has strong buyer protection.

Do you happen to know if the Dahua turrent can be run in corridor mode, i.e. 1440 x 2560?

Edit: Actually his is the one without audio. IPC-HDBW4421R
