I am installing my doorbell and we are doing rough height location for camera placement.

We thinking camera len about 49 inches from the floor look right for us.

We are curious how many inches is your camera len from the floor? Not the doorbell button or motion sensor. just the len
My camera lens is at 50" height.

We installed our today. Our door did not have a doorbell wire since it had a wireless one from the previous home owner so we had to run a wire and install transformer for it

The transformer we brought have 3 volts to choose from. 8v 16v 24v. We hook it up to the 16v for now since we don’t have chime installed for it yet.

After we popped off the door trim, we noticed that there were no insulation in it so we add some inside it with the wires.

We are going to take white cover off again and mask off the button area at bottom of the doorbell cover the paint the top 3/4 black so the button is more obvious that it’s so a button to press.

Hello yall,

I've been looking to get a new smart doorbell and with the recent hype of the Eufy Doorbell I was about to get that, but then I read it does not allow using existing doorchime.

After reading this thread, it's clear to me that this RCA one is the one for me.

I know there a few different brands. At this moment, which is the best/safest one to get and have the most stable firmware. I dont want to risk any cross flashing.

Thanks

That would probably be the EZViz (in my humble opinion).
+1

If the Ezviz is not still on sale at Amazon for $99, I got mine from the ebay seller Adorama Camera or Adorama.com for $97 including a 2yr Square Trade Plan

The Main reason I chose the Ezviz-Db1 is that it is the only one that provides both Google and Alexa certification.

While it does not support ONVIF out of the box, many have been successful in flashing the latest Nelly's FW to obtain it, and while it's not been 100% confirmed, There is a good chance that it would continue to support both Alexa & Google, with the added ONVIF, and because Nelly's uses the same .apk as Ezviz there shouldn't be any app issues, (allthough the conection SSID may need to be changed after the Nelly's-FW flash), but I'm pretty sure the info for that is already included in David's HIKVISION DOORBELL101

All of that being said,
I've yet to find the time to install mine. SO, it would be greatly appreciated, if some one with an Ezviz running Nelly's Firmware, would chime in, on whether or not, all three features are possible, " Alexa + Google + ONVIF "

Thanks in Advance,
...

I set up my Ezviz DB1 yesterday - using the newest ezviz firmware - and I've noticed a couple of odd things I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on

1. At some point in the night the camera just locked up. The IR LEDs were on in the morning & the bell button had the normal blue ring but the button didnt't ring the chime, the app couldn't connect to the camera & my router didn't see the camera anymore. After turning off the power for a couple of hours, it eventually started working again. Anybody got any ideas to what might have caused that? I'm using pretty old existing doorbell wiring, chime & transformer - could it be a power delivery issue? I noticed the doorbell itself was pretty hot and I had set up shinobi doing motion detection from the rtsp stream - so maybe continuously streaming video over wifi was using too much juice? I've turned off shinobi for now to see if it happens again.

2. Holding the button down on my old dumb-doorbell would keep the chime going continuously. With the DB1, it doesn't matter how long you hold the button, you only get a short ring on the chime - is that expected? Can the duration of the ring be configured some how?

sounds just like what many of us has experienced with an undersized transformer. The contractor grade 16v 10va units are too small. I suggest 30va orhigher

Hi KlaverBoer,

I just wanted to send you a big THANK YOU, these instructions were very clear, and helped me to finally get my DB1 up and running.
Cheers,
Wade
@wv1973 Thanks for your feedback. Great that it helped you out. Do you know that it is possible to install a onvif supported firmware on your DB1? With the onvif support it is very simple to add the doorbell to your Synology.

Now about this Nelly's firmware enigma. I did download all the available FW's on the 6th of October last year. So that was the "original" 190625 version. I also downloaded the "new" 190625 from Davids 101 page just now. They are different in size (old = 4.245.182 bytes; new = 4.246.827) So my conclusions is that they are different. If it is needed I can upload (attach) the old version.

EDIT:
I am afraid I was mistaken. Looking a little further it was this download
(Mar 4, 2019): mentioned in this post of JSnP. So it must be an older version of the firmware, which ist stil avaialable via that link btw.

So we are still looking for someone who did downl;oad the early version of the 190625 version of the Nelly's firmware. Sorry for this

Hi

I just bought an Ezviz DB1 doorbell camera. I am in the UK and I also bought a mechanical chime and AC/DC transformer. I have everything working with the chime and Ezviz app etc,

However I cannot seem to get a snapshot.jpg URL working or Onvif.

I need a jpeg snapshot so I can integrate the doorbell camera in to my Home Automation system (Vera with Imperihome app).

The Android Imperihome app does support RTSP streams but only if authentication is turned off on the camera.

1. Can I turn off the RTSP authentication some how ?

2. Why doesn't the Ezviz DB1 support snapshot.jpg URL out of the box, seems crazy not too?

3. I believe I maybe able to use another firmware from another OEM like Nelly's or Laview but then I would lose Google Home support ?

4. Any other options ?

Many thanks.

i don’t think it matters which firmware Version you use. I have not found any of them have changed the URLs or provided any significant features beyond ONVIF support. I too would like snapshot capability but lest I left this route defeated. None of the urls I have for Hikvision work on this camera. I’ve spent hours on analyzing the PCAP and was the trail blazer on many things regarding this camera. I would love to hack the firmware from this, and one of Hikvisions other devices and find a way to add a web server. Also add features from other cameras. I’m sure the hardware isn’t the limitation. It’s merely they have chosen not to enable these features for some reason.
