Help with mobile app

hi I am new to the group. i have 8 cams they all working well they are connected to my desk top PC and to our mobile phones
at the moment they are only working if we are at the office, once we leave the office and look at the cams by the app on our phones they dont work
the mobile app we are using is e-CamView, can anyone offer any help or advice please Thank you

Sure thing! First off, it is a GOOD thing that your cams don't work when you are out of the office. That means that your cams are not (simply) exposed to the internet! +1 for that, because port forwarding etc are no-go.

Secondly, what you need, is that your phone thinks it is on your local network (eg you are at McDo and your phone is still connected to the network of the office), then you can still watch your footage (independently of the application you are using).

So how to do this?

Deploy a VPN server (eg OpenVPN Server) on your internal network (can be on a pc lying around, or on your router (if supported) or even a raspberry pi), and then deploy the according VPN Client app on your mobile devices.

If all this is chinese to you, you better outsource this task to your network administrator at work, or, if you are adventurous, you plough through VPN Primer for Noobs :)
