Hello,

I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2532F-IS. It came with firmware 5.2.5, box sticker says 5.3.0, so I decided to try and upgrade from the web interface because I was having a problem formatting the on board SD Card on the camera. That upgrade did not work and I have tried various firmwares with the TFTP tool. The last firmware digicap.dav I uploaded was from this post: http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/3408-HIKVISION-mtd-Brick-Recovery-Guide

EDIT: The firmware for my fix is found at this link: http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/4036-Custom-Firmware-Downgrader-5-3-0-Chinese-to-5-2-5-English

Here is the Hikvision TFTP log:
Code:
[2015-06-14 13:41:48] TFTP server [192.0.0.128] initialized

[2015-06-14 13:41:53] Device[192.0.0.64]test tftpserver

[2015-06-14 13:42:02] Connect client success [192.0.0.64]Success

[2015-06-14 13:42:02] Start file transmitting[C:\tftpserv\digicap.dav]

[2015-06-14 13:42:22] Completed file[C:\tftpserv\digicap.dav] transmit
There has never been a line that says "System update completed", the TFTP server is alwyas stopped at the last line. (I did the update though a switch, as suggested on the forums)

So, after a power reboot on the camera, the device is listed in SADP but not with IP Address 192.0.0.64. It says 192.168.1.64. I try to access 192.168.1.64 from my web browser and it does not connect. Attached picture of SADP tool.

Thank you for any suggestions!! :D

The camera has gone into the 'minimum system mode' where it's running with a bare kernel only, usually because an incorrect version of firmware has been applied and it can no longer fully boot.
This has been seen on newer cameras with older firmware that cannot initialise the DSP for example.
What version of firmware have you tried to load? You may need one specific to that model, it's not one I'm familiar with.

@alastairstevenson, the 2532 minidome runs the same firmware as the other popular 2cd models 2132/2032/2332 etc...

The camera came shipped with Firmware Version 5.2.5 Build 141201, Encoding Version 5.0 build 140714 (This was the working firmware)

The sticker on the box and camera both say Firmware Version 5.3.0 build 150327

Davo22, when I tried this firmware file from the thread you linked me, I got a message I had not seen before:

Code:
[2015-06-19 21:51:17] Device[192.0.0.64]system update completed!

YES! This worked and my new camera is de-bricked! Thank You for sharing this with me.

So, now is it safe to assume that Hikvision new firmware version 5.3.0 "Secure Activation" is not really ready to use?

Also, Thank You Alastairstevenson and Fenderman for your input.

I was originally having a problem getting the SD Card to format on the card, which made me think to update the firmware. Now that the camera is working again :), I am still not able to have the camera initialize/format the SD Card successfully. I start the format process and I can see the progress, which gets stuck at 26%, then jumps to "completed". Although the card stays "Uninitialized." Attached picture shows. This might be a reason for a new thread, or maybe a simple fix. Thank You!

You may need to try a different brand of 64gb card. Some seem to be temperamental particularly the SDXC cards.

i have never had problems with the 32gb SDHC cards.

what brand and type of sdcard are you trying to use?

The picture says it all really... You get what you pay for. I'd be surprised if the capacity is 64GB..

Stick with reputable branded SD cards and you will probably be OK.

Did you set your computer/tftp server to 192.168.1.128 for it to work?
TFTP dosn't find the camera on either 192.168.1.64 or 192.0.0.64?

What did you do?

Brian,

I had my computer running the TFTP server set to a static ip on the same subnet as my ip camera I wanted to update.
The TFTP tool will work across subnets, so make sure only the camera(s) you want updates are plugged into the switch. (Don't have your main network connected to the switch if you have other working IP cameras)

Good luck,

SLR

Hi @SLR, I have Hikvision DS-2CD2632F-IS. The camera was bricked when I tried to upgrade firmware from 5.2.5 to 5.3.0. I tried to downgrade the firmware and did not see "System update completed" either. When I run SDAP tools and it shows "V 4.0.8 Byuld 150401" and says 192.168.1.64 IP address. The problem is very similar to your first trial. Can you let me know which firmware to use? Let me know the firmware file date and size.

I solved too. Camera DS-2CD2632F-IS V5.3.0_150513 Date 10/2015. My problem i wasn't getting "Device[192.0.0.64] system update completed!" after "Completed file[E:\TFTP\digicap.dav] transmit" with chinese 5.3.0 firmware, got this mesage only with EN 5.3.0 which booted in auto loop.

So mesage "Device[192.0.0.64] system update completed!" MUST be for successful camera debrick!

If your camera don't write "Device[192.0.0.64] system update completed!" it is WRONG firmware. Wrong can be if it is wrong version or wrong language flag.

So i changed language flag of whoslooking "Custom Firmware Downgrader 5.3.0 Chinese to 5.2.5 English" firmware version with command "hiktools lang digicap.dav 1" ant it worked!

Also while tftp update process going you should able ping 192.0.0.64 device. With wrong firmware you lost ping after "Completed file[E:\TFTP\digicap.dav] transmit" but with right firmware you get ping till "Device[192.0.0.64] system update completed!". So if you lost ping after "Completed file[E:\TFTP\digicap.dav] transmit" Do not expect (or wait) to get "Device[192.0.0.64] system update completed!".
