Hello,

I don't know if I'm posting in the correct place but I'll try here. I have 5 camera setup using NVR. I had the system up since September and fooled around with the MD schedules and IVS rules. I could never get these camera to record even changing sensitivity/threshold for motion detection and deleting IVS rules and reapplying them. So for example if I set an IVS rule for my driveway cam say tripwire the line that I create when crossed and my driveway camera should record if say a person is walking up the driveway. Please correct me if I am wrong but that is how I'm thinking it should work. So now it's almost April and I still can't get these camera configured I did stop working with them through November - February because I tore a tendon in my knee. So I am pretty techie but very new to these advanced camera, so I'm looking for some advise something I may be doing wrong because I do not think it's faulty equipment it has to be what I'm doing. I am managing all settings from the NVR system and all my computers in my house are Macs and I use iPhone remote view through VPN iDMSS Plus. Are there better alternatives of VMS then what I am using?

NVR: DHI-NVR5208-8P-4KS2 - System version V4.000.0000001.5 - Hardware Version V1.0
Camera x 3: IPC-HDW2231R-ZS 2MP- Camera 1 System Version 2.800.0000005.0.R 3/25/2019 -Camera 2 2.800.0000005.0.R 3/25/2019 - Camera 3 2.800.0000008.0.R 6/19/2019
Camera x 2: IPC-HDW5231R-ZE - Camera 4 System Version 2.800.0000008.0.R 6/19/2019 - Camera 5 2.800.0000008.0.R 6/19/2019

All equipment purchased through Empiretech Andy either on his Amazon Store or directly from Andy.

Cheers,

AC

In the NVR, under storage, schedule, did you set the recording for these events (IVS/Intelligent ?) ?

I set there channels for MD and 2 for IVS. I have no Intelligent setting here. So last night I set up MD and IVS but now when I checked now when I came home the check marks are moved from either IVS or MD depending the channel to Green Regular, but the line on camera 1 shows the Yellow MD. So when I search for video nothing comes up.

Thanks, bigredfish that explained a lot. Now knowing I can log in from IP address helps a lot. I used to sit at my desk and stare up at my monitor to do this. No more stiff neck lol.
Just have 2 questions.

1) You mentioned changing port on camera from default. Do you mean each camera assign one of my open network ports? Or does the NVR have it own ports?

2) When I create a new user under the admin group when I try to log in with it it says invalid user id/password but it's definitely correct.

Everything else was spot on. Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
AC

1 - don’t change ports on the cameras. Let the NVR assign ports itself if you have an NVR with built in PoE ports you are using.

2- what is telling you invalid login specifically?

You may have to check all the permission boxes when you create a new user

Okay, I am hitting a snag I'm trying to set up the camera in under management > encode I go to type and choose MD and click ok and pop up says saved successfully. Then if I leave and goto an other area and come back the setting is general again. I'm logging in through the web and using a Mac w/ Safari. What do you think is going on?

Are you logged into the NVR or the actual camera directly? Each camera has their own separate login/interface. You should make the changes there, not through the NVR

Ive not tried to set a different encoding on General vs MD ? Not sure that would work well?

And I'm not certain what H.265 will affect. Im pretty sure it will break IVS.

Okay, I was logging into the NVR. I log into camera by its IP address? Also, H.265 what is the best setting to select?

No go back and red my PSA

You log into each camera via the blue IE icon on the registration page to the right of each camera.

And I would not advise using different encoding for MD and General
